I'm not a huge fan of the Nightmare series itself -- I loved the 1st one, enjoyed the 3rd, and that is just about it.

I got the boxed set anyway, because it seemed like they had put a lot of work into it. After slogging through all of the DVDs (and confirming my original impressions of #2,4,5,6,7) I decided to keep #3 and the bonus "encyclopedia" DVD and sell the rest on eBay. (While the original movie is my favorite, the laserdisc version is superior both in terms of picture quality and extras.)

The "bonus" DVD is a slight disappointment. There is a ton of cool direct-access stuff (like interviews and trailers for all of the films), but they also stuffed a bunch of the extras in a stupid video game "labyrinth" that's about as much fun as doing your taxes. I don't want to have to work to get to my supplements (and it has reportedly taken some people hours to solve, if ever).

Anyway, if you like this series at all, get the box. While I certainly can complain about some things, the picture quality and presentation is pretty much excellent. Plus, my understanding is that this is going out of print soon -- with individual releases of the films (without the bonus disc) to follow. Get it now or regret it later.

Hope this helps...
