Can anyone give me a review of the DVD double feature of "The Stranger" and "Cause For Alarm". I have seen "The Stranger", but not "Cause For Alarm", so any comments on it would be helpful. I am most interested in hearing about the transfer on "The Stranger".

Gamblor,

The transfer on The Stranger leaves a bit to be desired. But if you like the movie and want it on DVD you are not likely to get a better tranfer. The Master DVD released in 1998 may still be available in some stores. The Master transfer is slightly lighter overall.

Cause for alarm is a frustrating story. It's one of those stories were the lead (that is innocent) seems to be set up, and starts to do dumb things that only seem to make them look quilty. You'll have to see the movie to find out how it turns out.The transfer is good to very good.

I love the Stranger but beware the firsy pressing cut three minutes out of Cause for Alarm. There are ways to tell the difference between the two pressings. See the DVDLaserdisc Newsletter. Their web site is DVDlaser.com you can find all the info by doing a search on the title.
