I have the 2095 and even thought I got a good home theater sound I am still not satisfied with the music side of it.I got B&W speakers for the front.I use Pioneer 925 DVD player connected with Tara Labs speaker cables.Any idea to improve!

Need more details. What mode(s) do you have it set to for music, if any? How many speakers...etc.

I have a 2095 and a 795a. The 2095, I usually have it set to either "Disco", "Party", or one of the Jazz club DSPs. I have 7 speakers set up plus a sub. The key here is if you're going to use a DSP mode, decrease the room size setting down to at least 0.4 if not lower. They are all annoyingly exaggerated, but sound quite good when brought down to a realistic room size number. All Energy eXL speakers with Home Depot 12-14 gauge wires.

My 795a is hooked up to 4 speakers and my computer, and runs music flat (no DSP). I don't think the DSPs sound very good without extra front effects speakers. Energy and Mirage speakers with 12 gauge wires.

Good sound when playing music requires more of a quality amp than does home theater.

I would suggest your receiver does not have the AMP balls to produce the depth good stereo requires http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif

Buy yourself a nice 2 channel amp to use for your stereo listening. You can get a good used Adcom or something and you will see what I mean. Do you have any friends with such equipment so you can experiment with for free?

I am also a B&W speaker owner (love these things) but I use separate amps and a pre/pro. All my amps are ROTEL and only 1 of them is a 2 channel amp (was about $1000) the rest are all mono amps.

When I go into two channel stereo I am only on the 1 amp with the B&W mains and it sounds awesome.

I use an older Pioneer Laser disc to play CDs on. It sounds better than 90% of the CD players I have heard, and way better than my DVD player (toshiba 3109). Part of your problem could also be using the 925 DVD player to play CDs.

Do you mean just plain music (CDs, MiniDisc, etc.) or music in movies? If you're referring to plain music, you may want to tweak your settings on some of the music DSPs. I did this for my Yamaha (HTR-5280), and when using the 5-channel audio function, it sounds great.

I was looking to improve the music listening side if I use CD's or Mini Disc's.I got also a Laserdisc player and no its not the Pioneer 925 causing the poor quality in music.I have B&W 601 for the mains.I even bi-wirred them to get a better quality sound.I play the music just without any DSP modes.
Maybe i need to get a seperate amp!

I would agree with 4KRG. I also have a 2095 for my HT setup and love it. But I have a seperate 2 channel amp and seperate speakers for my music system. I see these as two totally seperate systems, with each requiring diffrent solutions and configurations
