One of the options for the PS2 on the menu somewhere it asks which region you are in, I am not sure if this means that if you set it to another region you will be able to use that region's disc, but I was just wondering if anyone els saw this and if they have tried it out.

This has been mentioned before. Although I have not tried it I am pretty sure it is not to set DVD regions. Sony would be in a lot of trouble if it was and they intentionally put it in there.
My theory is that since it is under parental controls it is probably to to set the type of parental controls in the country you are in. Various country's have different rating schemes. It does however seem weird they would even include this as this model is only for use in North America. Unless the user interface is the same in the North American and European models.
