anybody heard about a PS2 recall? some kid at work said there was something wrong with it and they all had to be recalled. I think he is B.s'ing

Probably BS'ing. I read allot of the online and paper based game magazines and I have not heard anything. Besides it's already been out for over two months. If there was something seriously wrong with it and had to be recalled it would have hapenned by now.

He is a bit misinformed. Whent he PS2 was released in Japan, DVD functionality was done by loading software from an included CD. There was a way for owners of the first batch of Japanese PS2's to circumvent all region protection because of this. Sony quickly issued all forthcoming PS2's with a corrected software disc and recalled the original systems CD. But here in the US, DVD playback is a function of the PS2 hardware. So there you have it.
