Ok. Now to my next problem. I recently bought a LD player on Ebay. It didnt come with any wires, so if anyone has an idea on how to hook it up to my receiver(my dvd/ld jack is occupied by my DVD player) Id appreciate it.

If you are just hooking up L/R audio cables....use your vcr1 or vcr 2 input!! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

You didn't mention what model you got, and what outputs you are talking about. I haven't been on Ebay looking for LD players in a long time, but last I looked most (not all) of the players they had were older models with analog only outputs. If that's the case, you can do what djones6746 said and hook it up to any unused set of inputs you have available. Just remember that your VCR2 (or whatever) is your LD http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif

Even if you have extra digital input plus your LD player has DD output you still need to make sure your receiver's input has an RF demodulator built in. The manual would have said so. If you are to go analog, any other video inputs should be okay.

If your player does have a digital output, you do not have to have an RF demodulator to get digital sound. Providing you have the decoder, you can enjoy dts 5.1 soundtracks and even Dolby Surround soundtracks as well. The only reason for a demodulator is for DD 5.1 (AC-3)encoded soundtracks.

Ok I'll give you the run down on the way you should hook it up with all the possibilities I can think of
Ok if you have an s-video output on that player I would first hook it up to the television itself (provided you have s-video in on the tv) and check out the picture quality. Then try the regular yellow rca video out jack. See how the picture quality is on that. You see the s-video bypasses the laserdiscs comb filter, most newer tvs have better comb filters but you never know. So basically compare the two and go with which one looks best.
Ok on the audio side, if you have just the standard l/r rca jacks well, there ya go, you don't have a choice. But if you have an optical out jack I would use that one, to me it seems to give a crisper sound.
Here's where things might get a bit complex, you can not get Dolby Digital from the players optical output. To get DD your player has to have an AC-3 rf output. Now the other tricky part is that your reciever (same one as mine if I remember correctly str-de-845) does not have an AC-3 rf in. You would have to find a DD RF-demodulator somewhere, and they are not being produced anymore, you would have to e-bay it.
