Here's my dilemma. I just started looking into large TV sets for watching DVD movies, but I'm having a hard time finding something just right. I was wondering if more knowledgeable people could point me in the right direction and maybe make a few suggestions.
Here's what I want:
- Large display that uses as much of the available DVD resolution available (all of it if possible) for watching DVDs. How much resolution is that anyway?
- Ability to display both anamorphic and non-anamorphic DVDs using as much screen as possible without cutting the picture (i.e. for the non-anamorphic ones I think I need some sort of zoom feature--I don't care if I have to do it by hand).
- Something up to $4000 or so.
What I do *not* want:
- Anything specific to watch broadcast/cable TV on this set.
- Speakers or sound in/out. I already have a nice receiver/decoder, so it would be completely wasted here.
I've been looking mostly at rear-projection HDTVs, but it seems that they have a bunch of things I don't need (fancy sound systems, bunch of inputs, things related to getting HD TV, etc). But on the other hand, I haven't seen any other good alternatives.
Any recommendations? Anyone else in my situation? What are you using?
