Just saw this on a website. Might try it out on my 25 inch Samsung. I'm going to write down all of the original settings. Anyone ever tried this?

Yes yes and yes! I love it on my Toshiba 27" TV. What a difference with a anamorphic DVD! Hey do you have the URL of that web site you mentioned? I seem to have lost it and folks have been asking me how to do it on their TV's. BTW the site I was at said that 27" TV's were about as small as you could go if you wanted to see the anamorphic difference.

I have done it with my 27 inch Sony Vega. It has an option in the setup menu called "16x9 enhancement."
You will still have the black bars(since the TV isn't actually 16x9. It's 4:3) but the picture resolution is doubled!
Just make sure that your DVD player is set to put out a 16x9 picture, NOT 4:3 Letterbox or 4:3 Pan n Scan.
I love my Sony TV

Hmmmmm! I would like this URL too! I wonder if this can be done on my 35" Mitsubishi? I don't know the service menu code though and don't know if this option is available.

I've done it with my Proscan. Dramatic effect the one time I did it. But there was some horizontal pincusioning and other artifacts. I would have to adjust for those as well, but figured it was too much effort for a set that gets used regularly for viewing TV and non-anamophic films.

Ok, I gave in and tried. I have no service button on the back of my Sony so I have to enter the remote code. I've tried both of them like a hundred times and it doesn't work. Oh well.
