Oh wow, this is a shock.

Boothe won an Emmy for portraying Jim Jones and was well known for playing villains.
Powers Boothe, a character actor who appeared in films like Sin City and TV shows including Deadwood and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., died Sunday morning in his sleep of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles. He was 68.

His rep told The Hollywood Reporter that a private service will be held in Boothe's home state of Texas, with a memorial celebration under consideration as well. Donations can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which honors the nation’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.

Re: Powers Boothe dies at age 68

I know him mostly from TV, but he was a solid character actor.

Liked his stint on 24, and he also had a significant part on Nashville a few years ago.

He was a fun villain on Agents of Shield, which I guess was his last role. Says he died of natural causes in his sleep, I guess it must have been a heart attack or stroke.

Was he sick? 68 isn't "old".

aw man. I loved Powers Boothe. I know its the last thing that matters right now, but I can't help but think what a shame it will be if that Deadwood movie ends up getting made. RIP.

He died in his sleep according to the reports. Probably had a stroke or heart attack.

Yep. It won't be the same without Cy Tolliver.

RIP

While things obviously work out for a reason, and Ian McShane's career the last 13 years would have been substantially different, I am still curious what Boothe's Al Swearengen would have looked like.

Re: Powers Boothe dies at age 68

I replied in the Movie Talk thread since I associate Powers with movies more than TV. However, his work on Deadwood, 24 and the overlooked Hatfields & McCoys mini-series was the usual, great performance we were known to get from PB.

He will be missed.

He was fantastic in Tombstone, and pretty much everything else I ever saw him in.

Sad news. Him and Bill Paxton being gone is so weird to me since they were both in films I loved.
