Disney's Christopher Robin (2018, D: Marc Forster) S: Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell
Ewan McGregor is in talks to star in Disney's Christopher Robin.
Disney's live-action film, which will be helmed by World War Z and Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster, centers on the child from the A. A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories — but he’s all grown up.
McGregor will play the adult Christopher Robin, who’s lost his sense of imagination and is a businessman focused on work and success.
The studio also is bringing in Oscar-nominated screenwriter Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) to take a new pass of the script. Alex Ross Perry wrote the screenplay, with Tom McCarthy working on a later draft.
Milne’s Christopher Robin was inspired by and named after his own son, Christopher Robin Milne. He wrote about the character in two books, Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928), and other poems. Disney adapted the tales into several animated projects, including the 1988 series The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the 2011 animated film Winnie the Pooh.
The Jungle Book producer Brigham Taylor is producing the project.
McGregor was most recently seen in Danny Boyle’s T2 Trainspotting and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson. He stars in the third season of FX’s hit Fargo, which premiered April 19, playing twins Emmit and Ray Stussy. He’s also attached to Drake Doremus’ next film Zoe, with Lea Seydoux. He’s repped by UTA, United Agents in the UK and Sloane Offer.
Schroeder wrote the script for Fox’s hit film Hidden Figures, which was nominated for three Oscars, including best adapted screenplay. She is repped by Verve and Good Fear Film + Management.

I always liked Winnie the Pooh as a kid so I might watch this at some point if it looks good. I don't remember seeing Hook and haven't seen Finding Neverland.

Hook is worth checking out at some point. It's not a great or even very good film but has some great set designs, performances, and moments in it. Never seen Finding Neverland.
Will check this out based on liking the Pooh characters and Mcgregor.

Looks like it’ll be a charming family film so far. Pooh is definitely looking and sounding good there. Also like McGregor in the title role.

Looks cute. The Pooh Bear version of Hook?
I liked the teaser but naming only Beauty and the Beast seemed a little awkward at the beginning. I think by now they could just say “from Disney” and people would know what to expect.

Looks cute. Pooh looks like a good live action version. The voice is pretty spot on. I rarely rarely see family movies or cartoons in the theater, but this looks like something that will make me smile.

I'm surprised about the Pooh voice comments, since Jim Cummings has been doing Pooh's voice since 1988 according to Wikipedia, so he's not exactly new at it. But maybe that's because I watched the animated TV show in the late 80's so i'm familiar with it.

Yeah, Cumming's the voice of Pooh as far as I can remember - great they got him for this. Not a theater-trip but I'll definitely watch when it hits HBO/streaming.

Both my kids were raised on Winnie the Pooh, and they both hold a deep affection for the characters. We'll be making a trip as a family to see this in the theater.

I haven’t followed Pooh’s recent works, so I was unfamiliar with the voice being the same person for a number of years already.
I was talking about Pooh from the old Disney cartoon movies that I grew up with.

The voice sounds like the old voice.
I lived GCR.
Wife and I cried a good bit.
I expect we’ll be crying at this one too.
Christopher is my confirmation name taken because when I was little he was my idol.
