Get uncomfortable... ! In the tradition of classic grindhouse movies, BLOOD DRIVE is a new series soaked in high-octane chaos and just barely approved for television. After Los Angeles' last good cop (Alan Ritchson) is forced to join a twisted cross-country death race, his only hope of survival is a dangerous femme fatale who has the need for speed (Christina Ochoa). Oh, and forget gasoline... these cars run on human blood! The series is from Universal Cable Productions and executive producers John Hlavin ("Underworld Awakening"), David Straiton ("Bates Motel") and Frederik Malmberg ("Let Me In"), along with producer Mark Wheeler ("Becoming"). James Roland ("Weeds") created the project and is a co-executive producer on the series.

So much hate online about this being on SyFy but I guess they haven't watched it lately. Minus the cheap CG of Asylum films, they produce some good stuff with much more gore than one would think.
I'll be watching this one for sure.

The whole point of the show seems to be to push this as an R-rated TV show with all the fixings. For the most part, it (surprisingly) does just that, -until a final sequence near the end which includes a big, floating black box covering the semi-naked characters (and the box was also there during the 2am showing). It would seem to defeat the purpose of the show.

A little too cheesy for my tastes. Yes, they're pushing the envelope of basic cable, but they're trying too hard. And the premise is absurd. Will not be a regular viewer.

I finally watched it last night, and I really enjoyed it. Even the wife (who REALLY didn't want to watch it) was drawn in (likely by the "hunky" cop) and will be watching the show from now on.
Really curious to see how the show progresses with them focusing on different genres each week.

I like "out there", but this did nothing for me. Thank goodness for Orphan Black...

Well, I have made it through ep02 - and survived.
I applaud the over-the-top effort (gore, language, violence, semi-nudity) and the goofy storyline, but overall it still seems like it cannot possibly last multiple episodes.

I've been enjoying it overall, I suppose. The main chick is smokin' hot.
I really like the previews for the next week episodes.

I just watched the 1st episode a few days ago. Was really surprised how far they pushed the limits for basic cable. There was F bombs dropped in practically every scene.
The gore was pretty damn close to being R rated.
and yeah I do remember Christina Ochoa from Animal Kingdom last year. Super sexy.
The lead looked really familiar and I couldn't place him. Then I realized he played Aquaman on Smallville years ago.

Doesn't anyone recognize Colin Cunningham from Falling Skies and Stargate?
I dig the teases about Heart Enterprises and that kinky android. I'm guessing the DIY dentistry in the last episode means that the show has vampires.

I'm enjoying the show more than I thought I would. It's not going to win any awards, but it's still fun to have a grindhouse movie of week. I just wish every episode was shot in the style of the previews they have for the upcoming episodes.

Most of the black boxes (maybe all) are just another part of the show. They're not actually censoring anything. It's just to give the impression they are. Some are more obvious than others, so maybe they started using it to cover something real, but then decided to just have fun with it.

Just caught up on this show. So far it's fun and I like the main characters, but it has some issues. I wish the show actually focused more on the actual race... I was expecting this fun 'Death Race 2000'/'Cannonball Run from Hell' type show, but the race itself has taken a backseat so far so they can explore every other different genre tropes.
The side plot with the other cop and the robot girl doesn't do anything for me and doesn't seem to fit the tone of the show.
As for the grindhouse thing, it's weird because they play it up at times like they are going for that vibe (especially with the VHS cover gimmick), but the general look and feel of the actual show just seems like a typical modern day low budget horror movie you'd see on SyFy.

Tonight was the finale. Also creator announced it was cancelled.
The are no re-airs of the finale too if that wasn't another sign.
