$499 for the Xbox One at launch. (Did I pay that for the PS3 too? I bought it after the price drop on/around August 2007.)

Probably $300 for the Nintendo Switch. Prior to that most of the consoles I ended up with were birthday or christmas gifts from my wife (360, Xbox One, PS4) and the PS2 and PS3 I bought later in their life spans when they were about $200 or so.

I think I paid $500 for the 80 GB MGS4 PS3. It was the last backward compatible model made, and I ran out and grabbed it after that was made known and before they all disappeared from retail. It died an ignoble death via YLOD in in 2012.

I got my launch PS3 for less than retail on Christmas Eve off eBay when some lady (stupidly) listed a self-made bundle with the auction ending hours before Christmas. Still paid 500-something for a 60GB system with extra controller and CoD3, but the realization it wouldn't arrive in time for the holiday kept bidders away.
She shipped it without the game, and tried to get me to just accept it because she was losing money. I threatened to report her, so she quickly shipped the game separately, lol!

I bought a launch 60GB fat PS3, but had a friend waaaaay more interested in it so I sold it to him before even opening it.
After that would be PS4 ($400) and 360/WiiU ($300).

That bundle included a bulk of the launch games and was the only way I was able to find the system at the time. I was able to return or exchange some of the games though, so that helped.

I bought a launch PS3 60gb model, but I think I used a Target 10% off coupon to save $60. Considering the launch Samsung bluray player was more expensive at the time, the PS3 was well worth the price. I also had picked up a 3DO back in 1994 after its first price drop to $500.

We usually wait till the price drops so I'm not sure but I know we got the N64 the first Christmas it was out so that's likely it.
Or the WiiU that we bought new, but in that case I sold a SegaCD game that covered the cost and then some.
