Killing Fields - true crime show on Discovery

Anyone else watching this true crime series filmed in Louisiana? I approached it with some trepidation, thinking the Southern drawl and ambience would quickly grate on me, but, although it's a tad too episodic, I find myself engrossed, and I like the "characters". I have a lot of affection for the main guy, Rodie Sanchez, a hardbitten, compassionate old cop who is retired and only works cold cases. His face is like a roadmap of past regrets and professional frustration. I also like his jocular younger partner, whose name escapes me. The banter between the two shows a real fondness.
So far these folks have solved a couple of old cases and are working on others, but based on the opening credit sequence I have a feeling the show might branch out to cover cold cases and squads in other U.S. jurisdictions as well.
