RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

Bill Paxton has died ... TMZ has learned.

We're told the actor died suddenly Saturday due to complications from surgery.

Paxton had a string of hits, including "Twister," "Titanic" and "Aliens." He won an Emmy for "Hatfields and McCoys." He was on a CBS series, "Training Day" at the time of his death.

The 61-year-old actor had 2 children and was married to Louise Newbury for 30 years.

The family says, "It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery." The family accurately describes his "illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and flimmaker." The family adds, "Bill's passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable."

Damn! This one hurts a bit. He was one of my favorites as a kid and today.

He was never a huge star but every movie he was in was a bit better because of his presence.

He always seems like the type of guy you could hang out with at a BBQ.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

Damn, I'm shocked.

I also wonder what kind of surgery he was having where complications would arise.

That's got to be fucking weird now for CBS since his show Training Day is still airing. There's like 9 episodes left to air.

Very sad to hear this.

Two of his best movies that rarely get mentioned were A Simple Plan and One False Move.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

I am fucking devastated. My wife and I have been watching movies where he has been popping up in and I said that I think he's a great fucking actor and will see anything he's in. I love Frailty and his commentary on there is so down to earth.

Fucking shitty.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

this one hurts. fucking loved this guy.

I hope this wasn't some bullshit elective surgery that ended up costing him his life.

One of only two guys who was ever killed by a Terminator, Alien, and Predator.

RIP Hudson

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

We're told Paxton underwent heart surgery and had complications post-op and suffered a fatal stroke.
That really fucking sucks.

I just saw Frailty for the first time not too long ago and really liked it. I think I'll have a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray for lunch today. RIP

"Complications from surgery"?
What does that even mean?
What surgery? What complications?

Anyhoo, I liked him in everything I saw him in - he pretty much elevated all the material he was in.
I especially like him in "Big Love".

"Game over, man", indeed.

4 posts up say it was due to heart surgery. And considering how dangerous heart surgery is...so sad to see him go. He clearly had another 20+ years in him.
