I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Frankly, I'm pretty burned out on the genre of comedians making shows about their life as a comedian, but this Pete Holmes guy is playing a character I haven't seen in this setting before, and he made the show real engaging.

I was trying to figure out who the actress was playing his girlfriend. I couldn't remember where I'd seen her before, but now I see she played one of the guards on Orange Is the New Black.

I wasn't very impressed with Artie's acting. Something about it seemed off. His performance seemed way too artificial next to Holme's more natural acting. Maybe I'm just distracted by how horribly Artie seems to have aged in the last seven or so years since he left the Stern show.

Look forward to seeing next week's show.

Just watched it. Wasn't overly impressed with it, but I'll give it a shot. I like Pete Holmes. He was always good on Conan's show when he was on a bunch before he got that show on TBS. Artie was pretty much Artie in real life.

How is Pete Holmes in this? I thought his TBS show tanked (unless I'm mistaken). I watched it a few times and wasn't impressed. He doesn't seem like someone I'd choose to lead a scripted show.

Yes Gershon is not that bad for her age and probably a 9 or a 10 if you have the looks and physique of Artie Lange.

Is TJ Miller funny? I don't get his appeal and you can only take him in small does. Hope he does not host the Critics Choice Awards again.

Pete's TBS show was one I enjoyed watching.

I think it got retooled and then cancelled.

First episode was good, second one was okay. Not a big TJ Miller fan, especially as a standup, my favorite thing he's been in is still Carpoolers (even though I didn't really like him in that either but the show was great).

I watched the first 3 episodes over the weekend so wanted to circle back on this. The few times I watched Pete's TBS show, it came off as sort of sad (I don't know if it was pre or post re-tooling) and it didn't really click with me.

Anyway, I agree on your statement about him creating the character of himself for this show...and it works. I'm actually enjoying the show quite a bit. I'm not a huge follower of the stand-up comedy scene, but the grind and dedication these guys go through is interesting to watch. The bit on Gina Gershon's couch was pretty good. Pete's wife's new lover is a trip.

Yeah, the 'barking' storyline was pretty good. Don't really know much about the stand-up comic world and what goes on behind-the-scenes. So I'm not only finding this show quite funny, but equally interesting as well.
