When you buy controllers, do you buy the default color or another color?
When you buy additional video game console controllers, do you buy controllers that are the default color or do you buy different color controllers?
EDIT: The third option in the poll should be "Both the default color and different colors." without the question mark.

Do you work for a marketing company or something? Just curious with all of the threads you have been creating lately.

No, I don't work for a marketing company, or in any profession in the video game industry. All of my threads are just things that I am curious about.

I wasn't sure which one to pick since I bought a white Xbox controller, and i'm not sure if that counts as default since there's white Xbox One models.
But usually I do the default color since I generally prefer black/white/grey or whatever the default consoles usually are since I hate red or blue or whatever wacky colors that come out. They always look tacky to me.

Funny how this topic came about....my original PS4 controller bit the dust and yesterday ordered a new one from Amazon....A Red one

Whichever is black. I keep my hands clean, but even clean hands will dirty a controller after holding it for so many hours - black controllers end up looking less filthy than other colors.

Generally just the black, though I did have a white for 360. I wouldn't mind other colors but it seems they're usually more expensive. But I haven't done a lot of comparison shopping.

Whatever is cheaper. If all are the same price, I'll usually get one other than a stock color.

For my wife, we usually buy the default/black, for me white if it is available. We do this with our iPhones and iPads too.

I like my things to match in general. Every once in a while a colored controller will come along that I really like, but it's got to really strike me.
The last colored pad I liked enough to keep connected to a console was the transparent Emerald (green) Dual Shock for PSOne. Been waiting for Sony to bring that series back for the PS4, but so far it's just been a long run of ugly with these clashing solid colors.
..oh yeah! Really liked the limited Extreme Green pad Nintendo released for the N64 right around the time F-Zero X came out. You can see how rarely this type of controller catches my eye.

I like different colors personally, heck during 360 days I would actually seek out some of the various designs. Currently for my X1 I have the Forza blue controller, Elite black controller and the Halo controller (silver/blue). I want the Dawn Shadow one actually too but I have no idea how to get yet another controller by my wife since the X1 sits in the living room.

Generally the default, but I've picked up odd colored controllers in the past because they were marked down on clearance. I have no issues using a pink controller for half price of a new one.

my kids can be a little rough on the PS4 controllers. The two standard black ones are theirs...the blue one is mine.

I always buy a different color if it is available. The only times I have bought a second controller in the default color is if I wanted it right away and there were no other colors at the store.
I just like to be different. For the same reason that when I'm buying a car, when the dealer asks what color(s) I'm looking at, I say anything but white, black, or gray/sliver, because 80% of the cars on the road are one of those 3 colors, and I want to be different.

X1 - Day One black, black, Halo silver/blue, Forza blue, Elite black. I don't dare buy anymore until at least one breaks or something

Re: When you buy controllers, do you buy the default color or another color?
I've only bought one extra controller in my life, a standard black one for the PS3. I assume because it was cheapest or most readily available.
If I pick up another controller for the PS4, it will be a different color than my current sky-blue Uncharted 4 controller that came with the system.
All things being equal (price, availability), I would probably go with a red one.

Re: When you buy controllers, do you buy the default color or another color?
I don't really care too much. I have two white 360 controllers since I had the original console first and it died and I later bought the Elite. I also have the baseball themed Dualshock 3 controller for PS3 in addition to the regular black one that came with the console. I only have one controller for Xbox One and it's the original black one.
My only real preference normally is to buy an official controller rather than one made by a third party (I have a couple spare third party Nintendo 64 controllers but otherwise I own the ones made by whatever manufacturer).
