It used to be Vader grabbing the Emperor and throwing him down the shaft when Luke is being tortured. My favorite scene in any movie ruined with a "No, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".

Williams' dramatic, minor key score during the beginning of the medal ceremony at the end of A New Hope. It was a bit unusual to have a piece like that for a completely happy ending, and it always stuck with me.

Luke and Vader's final battle that leads to Vader losing his hand. Seeing Luke go completely apeshit and catching himself just before he goes to the Dark side is the most emotional sequence in the entire series.

George Lucas: "Ok Hayden, this is the culmination of the entire series, where Luke can lovingly look over to you and realize you're finally at peace and you will always be there, watching over him...I think the best way for you to portray that is for you to look creepy as fuck! I mean full on 'I'm going to rape you in your sleep' mode. Yeah! That's it!"

I do hate though that right before Vader loses his hand... the actor playing him just goes down to the railing very slow. I get that choreography wasn't where it was w/ fight scenes here in the states but that always irks me. I get past it quick though cuz it's such a damn good scene that I can forgive that.
in hindsight of it all. As perfect drama it is. I do question it's choreography in some forms. The leaded fall into the railing and Vade's picking up of the Emperor. The latter is just kind of goofy. Vader just lefts him... and we get that shot of him just being lifted and not moving much. I probably would have put in up to 10 more seconds into that bit. Seeing more of a struggle from the Emperor. And I guess that that would add more value to Vader's act being a more physically stressing moment.

It's the shot of Luke in profile as he turns off the targeting computer and the visual screen retracts and he settles back into the cockpit.
It's just this perfect fluid motion of objects that encapsulates the sense of the character being confident and fully at peace with his decision.
It marks a point where the space battle is essentially over and this is all that is left- all or nothing stakes.

The Luke vs Vader fight at the end of Empire. From the moment he comes up on the elevator to the final fall it is totally gripping. Vader is toying with him at first and then goes full on rage mode and it's only then that Luke sees he is outmatched. Also the intercut sequences of Boba Fett flying Carbonite Han off in Slave 1 whilst Leia and Chewie shoot at the ship is cool. It's a great matte that they used for that sequence and Fett comes off super bad ass.

My favorite effects shot is the Falcon taking off from Hoth. Luke turns and watches it cruise low to the ground before heading upwards, but it's movement is much more plane-like instead of shooting straight up.
My favorite scene between characters is when Luke surrenders to Vader on Endor. All animosity is set aside as Luke confronts Vader in the way he was supposed to.

I always love the escape from Sarlac pit in Return of the Jedi. Then in the prequels the Wookiee battle on Kassyhk.
