Looks like I need to find out what the hell MOONLIGHT is. I've never heard of it or anyone involved in the making of it . Edit : I do know new Moneypenny.

I'm dying to see LA LA LAND though.

Re: *** 2016 Movie Awards ***

Jimmy Kimmel has been selected to host the 2017 Oscars.

Lamest choice for a Oscar host ever!

He will probably bring his lame sidekick Guillermo along for the ride.

ABC probably did not want to pay a ransom to get a quality host.

I wished NBC or FOX had the TV rights to the Oscars.

Re: *** 2016 Movie Awards ***

Most of these winners are indie films that nobody in the heartland is going to see. Y'know, films that are "good for you," i.e., they pound a message into your head, but not your heart. Who needs it? My favorite films of the year are THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN and SHIN GODZILLA, two films that have their roots in the two best Japanese films of 1954. No one's gonna pick them for any list or any award.

Oh, and Steve Harvey should host the Oscars. Not for some false ideal of "diversity," but because he's damn funny, but also knows how to bring the gravitas and show awe and respect when needed.

Didn't he just host the Emmy's last September? From what I get from interviews with previous Oscar Hosts, it's a pretty thankless job that nobody seems to want to do anymore, so Kimmel was probably the only one left.

Wasn't Eddie Murphy supposed to host a few years ago, but it fell through?

While Best Ensemble is their equal of Best Picture, apparently it becomes an issue when a movie is literally the two leads and barely anyone else.

Every year since 1996 (the second year the award was given) the Best Picture Oscar winner has at least been nominated for the Best Cast SAG award.

The King's Speech, Million Dollar Baby, The Hurt Locker and The Artist were all tiny casts and were still nominees for the Best Cast award.

I'd say this is terrible news for LA LA Land and great news for Manchester By The Sea.

This is just one of those statistics meant to be broken eventually, sorta like the big thing against Birdman during the Oscar race 2 years ago was it didn't get nominated for Film Editing and no BP winner had not gotten nominated in Film Editing since 1980. Haven't seen all the Pics in contention so don't if it's truly one of the best pictures or not but I really think if it wins PGA,DGA and other big guild things the no SAG Ensemble thing should not hurt it's chances.
