JACKIE is a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). JACKIE places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination. Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of “Camelot” that they created and loved so well.

Really looking forward to this. Hopefully it plays around here at some point.

She looks more like Barbara Walters than Jackie Kennedy.

The nephews (identical twins) of a friend and band mate of mine take turns playing JFK Jr. He'll probably try to drag me along to watch this.

Gotta love the Oscar rollout release style. 5 theaters this weekend.
Speaking of Oscar-hopefuls, Fox Searchlight debuted Jackie starring Natalie Portman in three theaters in New York and two in Los Angeles this weekend where the film took in an estimated $275,000 for a solid $55,000 per theater average. On December 9, Jackie will open five more new markets—Washington DC, San Francisco, Boston, Toronto and Phoenix—as well as adding a few theaters in both NY and LA.

I think Portman is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen so I'm naturally drawn to anything she does. This looks very good.

I saw it. She was good. I thought it was a tad showy though. But she definitely puts you in the headspace of Jackie. I like Peter Sarsgaard alot, but he was a poor choice for Bobby. The production was really good. It had looked like the 60s'. This is one of those good performances in a decent movie scenarios to me.

Eh. I wasn't a big fan. Yes, Portman was amazing, although her accent was annoying to me, but she had to it, right? She will receive an Oscar nom of course.
I didn't know anything about the movie beforehand, so I had some other expectations. Maybe that's why I didn't like it. Or maybe the movie wasn't able to win me.

hated her voice, but I found the actual Jackie WH tour on youtube when I got home and have to give credit to Portman for getting her voice so close to the real thing

I was caught off guard by how much I liked this. It may end up in my top 10. I thought Portman and Sarsgaard were great even if Peter didn't quite hit the mark with RFK's cadence and accent, but it was a very truthful performance. Portman completely suspended my disbelief. I totally bought her as Jackie. It was a standard biopic in some ways, but everyone elevated their game so much on both sides of the camera that I thought it was a terrific little film.

The voice was a massive distraction and for me it took away from the performance. I did like her portrayal overall though. The costumes and set work was great.
But overall I thought it was just an ok film, 2.5/5

I had it on my list to rent but heard it was pretty slow. The performance was great but not much to see

So, not knowing much about the Kennedy's except from what I briefly remember in history, I got a bad vibe off of them from watching this movie. Was that the main takeaway or did I completely miss anything? All I really got was legacy and royalty, not really actually HELPING anyone or doing anything good.
