I'm worried this crossover part one of four is going to be a gimmick. I have a hunch it's going to be 98% a standalone episode for Supergirl with Barry arriving at the end asking for Supergirl to leave and get her help.

That's my guess as well. The other 3 shows this week all have "Invasion" as the episode title, but not tonight's Supergirl -- I fully expect not to see Flash and Cisco until about 8:55.

They've already said that is essentially all it is for Supergirl.

Most of this episode worked because they mostly avoided the lame subplots that have been killing the show for me.
Thank heavens they finally put Alex and Maggie together. I've really been sweating that one out.

I liked this episode because the Guardian storyline got little attention and the crossover stuff was at the very end. I have no interest in it or the 3 other shows.

Anyone else kinda bummed they made John's human disguise Hank Henshaw? I mean especially in light of the "cyborg superman" angle. I mean, damn Gina, it makes no sense.

As for this episode...I think it would have worked if somehow the missile opened a rift between the two worlds when it exploded, sending Supergirl to Flash's world. With the alien shit on board maybe it somehow did that. I dunno....better than the lame ending it had.

I don't think they were ready for that quick of a heel turn for Lena Luthor. I'm sure that will be a slow play this year.
Speaking of slow play villains, while I know the move means Facinelli is probably not as readily available I do find it curious that none of the characters have even mentioned Maxwell Lord given how involved he was in literally everything that happened last year.

As a standalone, pretty good. As part of the 4-way, buzz over-advertising.
So, who are the masked folk looking for Mon-El in all the wrong galaxies?
(Btw, the alien taking a cell phone shot of impending red flaky doom was amusing.)

Supergirl on Monday night (technically!) kicked off the #DCWeek “Heroes v Aliens” crossover event with 3.5 million total viewers and a 1.1 demo rating, rising 33 and 20 percent week-to-week to hit and match its best numbers on The CW to date.

I'm guessing Mon-El hasn't spent enough time in our Yellow sun..

I'm guessing he's royalty and the person that saved him was his body guard. That line the potential body guard says about "listening to him for once in his life" makes sense then.

It was a decent standalone episode. Good to see Helen Slater again. She grew her hair out really long.
Glad that J'onn's blood issue was resolved in this episode. He did look scary as the white martian.
at Cisco being a dick to Barry at the end about their "friendship"
What an asshole.
and why is Mon-El pretending to have amnesia because of his crush on Kara?

That's what I was figuring. Plus he hasn't been on earth long enough to develop most of his powers. That or they are just too cheap to have someone else with Superman type powers.
I didn't think this was a bad episode. Nice to see Helen Slater again. I think it would have been better though if the Thanksgiving part was at the end and Barry and Cisco popped in while everyone was there. J'onn unleashing his true Martian form was cool Kind of disappointed that Cyborg Superman is just Harewood with a Terminator eyepiece. It's amazing how much I can enjoy this show when the garbage is in the background. Which brings me too....
This lesbian Alex storyline seemed to really go over the top in this episode. First there was Alex wanting to make a special announcement about it during Thanksgiving. Then it was Maggie going after Henshaw for no reason. Then there was Maggie for some reason being brought into the DEO just to be stitched up by Alex. Then there was Maggie and them finally getting together which hopefully signifies that they decide to move to Metropolis never to be seen again.

I don't get the alien bar thing. They went from there being only a couple aliens on Earth and now they walk around openly and there is enough to fill a bar. Driving cars & apartments. They should say most were from Fort Roz or something.
It just reminded me of later seasons of Buffy and Angel where demons loose the 'hide in the shadow' bit and have nightclubs and stuff.
The Hank with poison blood storyline was wrapped up pretty quick. Its like the writers thought of it then decided to drop it after it was already being filmed.

A friend of mine posted on Facebook wondering why there is a Gay story line on Supergirl and that she wished children could just be children and not be thrust into "real life" so soon with stuff like this. While i kinda get her "beef" with the whole "gay story line thing", I guess I don't see it as being any different from when they force hetero crushes and relationships on the shows. i.e. Mon-El and Kara, Kara and Jimmy, etc. Plus, these Hero shows aren't really geared towards children(she has a 10 yo). Yes, "The Gays" are among us....

But I think just because they showed them, that doesn't mean they are walking around freely as aliens. But then again, the Wonder POTUS just made Aliens on Earth a very public issue. So maybe some of them may feel more open.

And to make it even more pointless, they repeated the scene in tonight's Flash.

Solid episode, though not much more than a prequel to the big crossover. I think we'll eventually see Mon-El at his full power levels. It's often pushed by some writers that Daxamites are more powerful than Kryptonians with Superman possibly being the exception.

It would be nice to know how Cyborg "Superman" got his powers, especially since he seems to be just as powerful as Supergirl/Superman. Just knowing he was created by Cadmus isn't enough, especially when Metallo doesn't seem to be as powerful.
