Is there a greater Trek performance than Avery Brooks in "In the Pale Moonlight?"

I think not. I've been watching DS9 again for the first time in ages because this obscure cable channel called Heroes & Icons runs DS9, Voyager and Enterprise every night. ItPM has not aired yet but I remember it well and it's on YouTube.

Considering Brooks wanted out of the show and often phoned it in, his performance in this episode is just all kinds of awesome on so many levels. I could never imagine Picard or Kirk delivering that entire monologue, or for that matter doing what Sisko did.

And if you needed a reminder:

Yes there is a better one. Patrick Stewart in "The Inner Light".
At the end when Riker hands him to bbox found with the probe. Inside is the flute like instrument. The way Picard holds it like the most precious item in the universe and then begins playing the tune.

Of course they won't. That's why Sisko is a bad ass. Sometimes the greater good wins out over morality. This episode is my personal favorite but Stewart has a few better performances.

I thought DeForest Kelley's performance with the scene involving his dad in ST5 was one of the best performances in all of Star Trek.

Also Shatner's performance during Spock's death scene in TWOK, but more so the eulogy at his funeral scene with the quivering voice at the end of the "Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was most... human..." gets me in the feels every time.

Yep, Stewart in "The Inner Light" and Stewart in "Chain of Command, Part II."

^ Yes! When he says "Oh my god, don't do this to me!" kills me every time.

Starts around the 1 minute mark.

I can't come up with a better performance than Saul Rubinek in The Most Toys.

Patrick Stewart in "Darmok".

The Gilgamesh story is amazing. For those who aren't familiar with Sumerian/Babylonian mythology, I'll spoilerize the ending:

Spoiler:

And Gilgamesh... wept bitter tears, saying, "He who was my companion, through adventure and hardship, is gone forever."

... sob ...

Star Trek 5 isn't a great movie by any stretch, but it does have its moments. Also has one of the best lines in all of Trekdom.

"What does God need with a starship?"

Shatner on Twilight Zone beats all.
