Which Cover Looks Better? Older vs. Newer
Just purchased Streets of Fire from Walmart (online). The cover that Walmart shows is the original:
The one I received has apparently been "updated" by the studio:
I wish they'd have left this alone, I like the old cover much better than the new. The new one reminds me of the painting with the old farmer and his wife, standing there holding a pitchfork, only the pitchfork has been replaced by a rifle.
What older vs. newer covers do you like/dislike?

Pretty much all of them- I know they have to find a way to make old stuff look fresher and newer, but I still prefer the original poster art and have bought many titles when I know they're going to change the cover later.
Speaking of which, what's up with the current trend of family titles having a large character picture on the front with a plain-color background?

The original Streets of Fire is incomparably better. The original is a work of art. The new one is almost like one of those covers on which unrelated pictures of the actors have simply been haphazardly placed onto the cover.

I should have bought mine a long time ago. Looks like the only way I'm going to get the original cover now is to buy some Region O/All shit from S. Korea or pay an ungodly amount of money from some scalper which I won't do.
Guess I already own the only copy I'm going to get...

I love that Scream Factory includes the original art on the reverse. I ALWAYS swap it out with the new artwork, even if the new art isn't too bad.
The new Friday the 13th artwork is terrible.

I've got the HD-DVD version which thankfully still uses the original artwork. The graphics and even the font used for the title is really iconic for this film.

For me, even if I don't like the artwork I like to keep it original.
If I really want the original artwork, I'll sometimes make an insert card with the original artwork and put it inside the case - Anchor Bay-style.

I hear that. Sometimes you can get away with a slightly inferior print, because it is going behind the plastic of a dvd case, but there is definitely a fine line there between good enough, and pretty shitty.
