SECRETS AND NEW FOUND POWERS — Nate (Nick Zano) is shocked to learn that he has powers but then accidentally lands himself and Ray (Brandon Routh) in Feudal Japan. This was a great episode tonight! Does this show have new showrunners? These first few episodes have been great! I think it helps that the Hawkpeople and Rip are gone. The actors playing them were either annoying or terrible.

That was awesome!! That was a hell of a lot of fun. Loved the humor as well. They've really upped the fun factor for season 2.
Rory: What are you two goofy bastards so happy about?
You lost your suit, the food sucks and I still have no proof Ninjas exist.!
Loved Rory's humor and I when he was taking on 3 Ninjas.
Sara and Vixen fighting that swarm of Samurais was pretty awesome too.
Yeah I'm curious what Ray's contribution is going to be other than being a goofy Dudley Do Right now that the Atom suit was destroyed. Or temporarily?
Old Barry's big secret via that recording has me curious as well.

A friend of mine mentioned that Ray's seen in the suit in some photos from the cross-over.
The show has been much better since (killjoy) Rip left, though I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

Yeah this episode was really fun. It's almost like they realized that the concept behind this show is really goofy and decided to just have fun with it. Considering next week they seem to be teasing Zombie Civil war soldiers I would say so. It had some fun quotes in the episode. Thought it was neat to see a shout out to Katana by having them meet her ancestors and seeing the birth of the sword of souls.
Since you need a speedster to fight another speedster I wonder if Barry's message from 2046 is teasing
Also interested to see where they go with Ray no longer having the suit anymore.

I really am digging this season and will be bummed if and when Rip returns -- that dude's a downer.

Pehaps they'll come up with one that's less "Iron Man" and more distinctively "The Atom".

Give us the classic Atom costume. They made a mistake turning Ray into Iron Man II.
LOT definitely has a lighter, funnier vibe this season. It's been an improvement over season one since their approach to drama was ham-handed in it.
Barry's message could be anything. They gave virtually no hint other than what time it came from.

I thought it was great. Convenient that Firestorm got stuck on the ship again, he could have handled everything alone.
I'm thinking that since Ray somehow managed to tweak the Nazi formula we might see him get shrinking powers without the suit?

Sounds reasonable given his constant talk about how he's nothing without the suit. So something that makes him something without it seems like a plausible direction he'd be looking at.

Fun episode. Super badass scenes with Sarah.
I'm liking the addition of the historian, even without the powers.

The ship can withstand a nuclear explosion but the door breaks off like it's nothing. Other than that it was a good episode.

Any show that uses an Irma Thomas song (her original track and not a cover) is OK by me.

Trimming the obvious dead weight off this show certainly has helped, but I didn't think any of the characters were really working last year. They have found a better formula thus far this year, and I give them credit for actually recognizing the obvious dead weight. Some shows get too attached to actors even when the character isn't working.

This season has ben far better simply because they got rid of the Hawks, Rip, and Savage. And the humor has come off far better. But hopefully they will also introduce some balance to all that campy humor. The better episodes in the prior season had that balance even with those characters still in the fold.
I have no doubt they Ray will find a way to build something that makes him the Atom again. Hopefully less Iron Man, more Atom.

My only worry is that he's going to claim to be an historical expert for every era they visit. It works as a tool to explain things to the viewer but no historian who claims Shogun-era Japan as "his jam" is going to know squat about the Aztecs for instance.

Ray certainly can take a beating. He's been knocked out, roughed up, and beaten more times than I can remember in this series.
Still, a fun episode I was on the verge of dropping this series but I'm enjoying the silly fun of it all. Definitely don't miss Rip, the Hawks, or Savage.

I gotta say I don't like "Steel's" all metal look. He looks like Captain Atom.
