So they didn't make a credit sequence for this season? Bummer.
Pretty good episode. Seems like they're going a little more serious this season, which is cool. Definitely taking cues from The Shining, Blair Witch, and even some LOST (a "hatch" and a video). They made mention of Helter Skelter, so it seems some rumors could be true.

I'm already starting to lose interest.
This is interesting though:

If you think you know American Horror Story: Roanoke, you don’t. The latest season of FX’s anthology series has now aired two episodes, focused on a supernatural reality series called My Roanoke Nightmare. Many fans have their theories about where this season is going. Well, AHS viewers, ready to have your mind blown in a few weeks.
“You’ll see starting in episode 6, the show has a huge turn and the thing that you think you’re watching is not what you’re watching,” co-creator Ryan Murphy reveals to EW.
The plot of Roanoke was obviously the major secret that the AHS team had to protect, but they were also hiding this massive surprise. “Even though the subject matter has gotten out, it’s irrelevant because nobody gets what we’re doing,” says co-creator Brad Falchuk. “No matter what you think it is, it’s not that. Then, episode 6 comes and you’re like, ‘Wait! What happened?’”
Adds Murphy, “It’s a hat on a hat on a hat on a hat that we’ve had to protect.”
While Murphy thinks the twist separates the season into two halves, Falchuk considers it three unique stories. He says, “It’s like [episodes] 1-5, 6-9, and 10 is its own thing.”
Start your guessing engines, AHS conspiracy theorists.

A great way to surprise people is to tell them exactly when to expect a surprise.

I don't remember enough about season 1, but could this be the sane house as murder house, we just can't tell because of the whole reenactment angle?

This guy would be so satisfied they tie together all of the seasons, or create some kind of larger (apocalyptic?) tale.

They're pretty much saying "Keep watching, it gets better."

I loved this. Not sure why anyone would stop watching yet.
The plot could go anywhere. As usual, with AHS.

Took me a second viewing to notice Lady Gaga as Kathy Bates' sidekick.

As someone who pretty much hated this show from season 3 until the beginning of 5 when I dropped it, I'm liking it so far. Nice with something completely new.

I didn't like the first episode once I saw it. Then rewatched it and loved it. Thought the second episode was great too.

Yeah, that was a surprise.
It was interesting to see what likely started a lot of the rumors about what S6 was about. The nurse scenes seemed very random, but least we probably know the connection to Manson now.

Just finished Episode 2 (starting 3) ...
Not sure if I am going to ride this out or not.
1) The reveal of a "big twist" to me says "just come back in a few weeks, nothing happening now matters."
2) Most of it is so dark I'm having issues even seeing what is going on (yeah, yeah, adjust your TV you old fart).
3) I'm not sure if I'm lost because I haven't watched previous seasons or just because everybody is lost.
On the plus side:
1) I like shows that keep you guessing as long as there is a payoff.
2) The professor was from Bradley University ... Fighting Squirrels, er, Braves represent!

I know where you're coming from. Until recently, I had a high end display, but it was five-years old and they stopped making adequate replacement bulbs for it. Many shows I watch are shot so dark now (and if they're not dark, they're "green"), -"Salem", "Game of Thrones", -that they were difficult to watch. I couldn't make out the final shot of "Hap and Leonard" (an object below a house). It sort of lit a match under me to buy a new set, where I might once have given it another year.
