Probably my most anticipated drama of the Fall.

I had this one set on my DVR due to the mostly good reviews. But then I started reading more about the story and things like (I'm paraphrasing) a right-wing military leader who advises bombing the Middle East to the stone age, but Maggie Q suspects the enemy may be closer to home, and I realized the series was going to find some "safe target" for the cause of the attack and all the subsequent villainy and I realized I just didn't want to get involved in that again. I mean "24", and any number of other series are guilty of that, too, -but maybe that's why I'm tired of it.

Will check this out for Kiefer... but like Touch... I'm sure I will drop it. Kiefer should get off network and get on to cable.

Have this set to record, although probably won't be able to watch until the weekend.

But I agree with you that Kiefer would be great taking his talents to say FX or maybe Cinemax and doing a grittier show.

Decent pilot. I like all the actors so far. I'm hoping the action won't be corny and terrible like Quantico. I don't watch many ABC shows, but if the action shows are the quality of Quantico, it would be disappointing.
I can see some Jack Bauer aggression coming out later.
Didn't realize Sean Callery (24 composer) is working on this show

This wasn't very good. The villainous General alone (cliches anyone?) wants me to drop this show already, but I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it gets any smarter.
Glasses on: Unsure Kirkman
Glasses off: Presidential Kirkman
It's like watching Clark Kent/Superman

The general was ridiculous, and I already hate they're doing the 'troubled teen son' trope... which can only lead to annoyingly stupid subplots. That said, I enjoy the core of the show. I also like that they have established two shows in one here, with the 'new President thrown into the fire' side and the 'Maggie Q investigating the terror attack' side.
I do still question what the shelf life of this show will be, however. At some point he either has to get good enough at his job that the way he got it is a non-issue (making it just another Presidential show), or he has to get kicked out of office (at which point the show is essentially over). Because if they get to a third season it just won't make sense for him to still be fumbling his way through the job. And honestly, why would viewers want to root for him if he was?

As for the General, of course, they'd have a warmonger general there. Very predictable.
And the teen asshole son....ugh.

Good start. Will continue tuning in. Had no idea Maggie Q was in this! That's a bonus.

I thought it was interesting. Sticking around for now.
I do hope they throw a little Easter egg in there and have CTU mentioned in a throwaway line. Something like: 'The CIA, NSA, CTU & the FBI are investigating the threat Mr. President'

hmm, I didn't catch that CTU easter egg.
I thought his birthday would be an easter egg (Dec 29, 1967 on this show). However, Jack Bauer's birthday is Feb 18, 1966.

at the evil general who wants Kirkman's job.
Is this the first show to actually refer to a potential Middle East country threat by name? They actually mentioned Iran here. Most shows seem to make up fake Middle East countries.
I agree with DRG. I liked seeing the two separate plots. Kirkman, who is a glorified real estate agent , overwhelmed with his new job and Maggie Q investigating the bombing.
Liked seeing Italia Ricci again after Chasing Life and Supergirl.
I'm thinking the bombing is probably an act of domestic terrorism within the government.

I thought the 2nd bomb was going to go off after the FBI bomb squad thought they diffused it. I was imagining the bomb squad guy giving a thumbs up, the camera does a wide shot, then an explosion goes off.

Re: Designated Survivor (S1E01) -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 9/21/16
Basic problem was they had him in DC. You would think the DS would be in some WVA bunker or something just in case something like this did happen. If it were a nuke then everyone in DC would be dead.
Then after the attack they whisk him and his family to what is probably the #2 target, the White House. That should be the last place the designated survivor is taken to, at least until they have a better handle on the situation.
Hopefully we do things different, a lot different, in this scenario. I would think putting him on AF1 would be a good choice.
As to the show, does he get to pick his VP? I suspect that's going to be tense as well.

This procedure is how Gerald Ford and Nelson Rockefeller became Vice Presidents.
As for the show, I didn't love it, but I liked it enough to keep watching.

Should have made this a two part premier. Most of the first episode was already outlined in the trailer, so it came off to me "as expected."

I really liked this, very strong cast. I hope they don't do too much of mole type storylines like in 24

The ultimate plot twist would be if Kiefer's character was the mastermind behind the attack so he could become president

Thought he was in a bunker.
I'm good for the full season seems fun.
Also what if Kirkman did it.
Well Desmond and I posted almost at the same time.
