Marx Brothers Coll. 10/18

Also ran across Gregory Peck Centennial Collection from Universal. Probably has To Kill A Mockingbird, Charade, Cape Fear. Crossing my fingers it has Mirage and Arabesque.

Wow! This is huge news for me! I can't wait to pick up this set. I hope we end up getting the rest of their movies as well. That way I can retire both of my Marx Brothers sets.

Yes, I read about this release at another website. Definitely going to add this to my collection. It is likely going to mirror Universal's DVD version that includes the same titles.

The Marx Brothers Silver Screen Collection [Blu-ray]
The Cocoanuts
Animal Crackers
Monkey Business
Horse Feathers
Duck Soup

Can Warner Bros. be far behind with a similar set of the MGM titles? I bet they'll be watching the sales on this set so it'll be day one for me.

Gregory Peck isn't in Charade.

Yeah, that would be Cary Grant...

This is awesome news. Not sure I'll upgrade immediately at that price though.

This set certainly trumps the DVD version in terms of supplements, with commentaries on each film (featuring Bill Marx and respectable mix of historians and critics), a feature-length documentary, The Marx Brothers: Hollywood's Kings of Chaos, plus the NBC interview clips from the earlier set.

They are claiming new restorations, so does anybody know if the nasty splices in Horse Feathers have finally been fixed?

Good question. I watched that title with a friend the other night and had forgotten about that. It's very noticeable.

As mentioned by Classic Films in the Amazon BD Deals thread, this is a DOTD - $27.99.

Re: Marx Brothers Coll. 10/18

tempting. But I have to be honest with myself. I haven't missed not owning these films so far, nor would I likely be watching any of them anytime in the next few months at least.

I just wish I could exercise this kind of restraint more often.
