I was just thinking of Time Bandits yesterday, thanks to that WB letter from "Kevin."

WOW 83 .... long life of being such an iconic character.
Time Bandits is a favorite of mine and 'Fidgit' was a funny character.

I thought his portrayal of R2-D2 was a little mechanical.

They've changed his age to 81, but still a long life. RIP

Re: Kenny Baker Dead at 83

He gave a more lifelike performance in a tin can than Hayden Christensen did during the prequels.

Nobody ever walled themselves inside a cave without using arms better than he did.

Re: Kenny Baker Dead at 83

Cheers to a great performer!

R2-D2 is an amazing concept and the man in the can did so much to enliven the character. It just wouldn't have worked without someone brilliant in there. We feel affection for this non-anthropomorphic character because its jerks and motions have a human hand behind them. Similar creations in earlier films, I'm especially thinking of Silent Running, didn't illicit nearly as much empathy as beloved R2.

I love Baker and all his little entertainment cohorts. Time Bandits is stunning and I've always applauded Gilliam for putting the little people up front for once instead of crammed into costumes.
