Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

Just got an update from Target on the release date. Extras should be announced soon as well.

I'm just hoping Best Buy has the 3D steelbook for $20. That $28 Ant Man steelbook stung a little bit.

Ok, Disney- throw in a UHD disc (for which you can tack on an additional $5) and you've got a deal.

Meanwhile, back in reality... it's nice to see there's a commentary on this set.

Finding Antman on these covers and promotional images is like trying to find the rabbit head on Playboy covers.

Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook 3D Blu Ray preorder is live for $29.99.

Hope they do a better job with the Steelbook packaging than they did with my badly damaged Deadpool Steelbook.

Glad they're not doing multiple steelbooks like they did with Ultron.

Was kind of on the fence about buying this one, but that Steelbook art might be too good to pass up.

I'm glad I'm not hung up on Marvel steelbooks because I can't see paying $30 for one movie in this day and age.

Also, while it's ok artwork, wouldn't Iron Man's arc reactor be a better yin to Cap's shield yang?

I have the standard edition on pre-order from Amazon. The Steelbook is kind of cool but I don't have any of the others so I'll just stick with the standard release.

Re: Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

I'll stick with my Target order ($27.99 plus $5 GC) unless the BB steelbook is less than $23, but I bet it stays at $29.99.

So now Target has an exclusive but it's $1 more and it's just some digital content and a free Marvel trial? Whatever.

I just can't believe how bad target.com is. I had to "Approve" the new release date and that link did not work at all for me in Chrome or Firefox, yet worked just fine on my phone. Stupid that I even had to do that. Also still waiting for my $5 gift card from the Zootopia pre-order (arriving between July 1-July 19 !?!).

I had the same thing...had to chat with someone at Target to "approve" it for me.

On one level I really, really like that artwork. On another level, it (probably irrationally) annoys me that Iron Man is featured so prominently. Makes it look like the movie was called Captain America v Iron Man: Avenger Squabble.

Is Marvel not allowed to promote Spiderman on anything Civil War related? I get they wanted to keep the character a mystsry when the movie was in theaters, but Spiderman isn't featured on any Civil War merchandise, including the Blu-ray packaging.

I stand corrected. I noticed he was absent from certain POP figures and the Blu Ray. I thought there was something to it.

Re: Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

In terms of merchandising I've heard that Disney is only able to put Spider-Man on products that feature other Marvel characters and supposedly they aren't able to sell things like action figures of only him (he has to be in a two pack or something). I'm not sure why they couldn't put him on the cover of the home video release though.

Just a reminder, if you preorder the steelbook from Best Buy this week, you get 100 reward zone points. I went ahead and put in an order, but hopefully it drops a little bit before release week. So far this is the most expensive one. I guess the $20 release week deals are over.

Those are the regular points. You won't get the bonus points until you pick up or the item ships. That's how the bonus points have always worked in the past with preorders.
