No one's seen this already? It's been free On Demand for about a week now...I watched it on Wednesday. It's a so-so premiere. But there's a nice nod towards "Silence of the Lambs"...you'll see.

First ep of Ray I have fallen asleep watching. It set up the season but man was it slow, boring and a little too trippy.

Glad it's back even though I don't subscribe to Showtime. I'll let the season run, subscribe for a week and bang them all out. This is the best show none of my friends have heard of.

I watched the first 4 eps of this show a few months ago when looking for a new series to get into, but ultimately I wasn't feeling it. I really enjoyed the lead character and the hollywood fixer/enforcer aspect, but didn't' care for the stuff with the brother/father. Did I give it a fair shake? Are those first few eps representative of the rest of the show?

The family aspects are huge parts of seasons 2 and 3. Ray's relationship with his father is a big part of the series. I personally think it's a very well made character-driven drama and they do mix in the fixer aspect in each season.

Sounds like you weren't really that interested in the 1st place, so if those aspects bug you, you probably shouldn't move forward. You're already 33 episodes behind and probably wouldn't be caught up in time for the current season either.

Honestly I thought the 2nd season was a HUGE improvement over the first. 3rd season, while not as good as the 2nd, was still better than the first season.

Thanks for the Reply, DJ. I wasn't looking to catch up for this season, but I figured this would be a good time to gauge y'all's opinion on the long term quality of the show.

Re: Ray Donovan (S4E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Girl with Guitar" -- 6/26/16

Watched the premiere last night. It was alright. Not the best follow up to the events of last season.

Most of it felt like a dream sequence. Kind of ironic that the biggest plot point was Ray being a fixer for the boxer who helped him when he was in down and out. And how did Ray escape crashing that Police car without any major injuries? Yeah he was wearing a seat belt, but he went head on.

I did laugh at Mickey being his same old self at the Primm casino doing that scam with the prostitute and then getting caught. I was at Mickey's little drug induced trance on Peyote.

Also, Bunchy was only in the episode briefly. Teresa was nowhere to be found. The episode description was kind of inaccurate.

Oh and I can't fricking wait for the Abby with breast cancer plot point to be part of the season.
