Game of Thrones (S6E07) -- "The Broken Man" -- 6/5/16

The High Sparrow eyes another target. Jaime confronts a hero. Arya makes a plan. The North is reminded.

Written by Bryan Cogman; directed by Mark Mylod.

The show needs to stop pussyfooting around and give us some Rickon torture already.

I hope when/if Deadwood comes back on the air they find a way for Rory McCann to get a guest spot. He and McShane played well together.

Wonder how Arya is going to find her way out of this one? Glad we got confirmation that Yara is going to try and reach Dany. Of course I guess now it's a race to see whether she or Euron get there first . Also glad to see her exploring her bisexuality (though she might be full on lesbian).

This season just hasn't been doing it for me. Too many storylines that sometimes only get a short check in every couple of episodes. I was hoping with so little time left that we wouldn't be getting these setup episodes as much.

Does The Hound hold ill will towards Arya because of the events that transpired?

This world is insanely huge. They literally have to narratively do it like this to round out and finish all the plots and subplots that they've set up, otherwise people would be complaining about that. If they just stayed on one or two things an episode, they wouldn't finish when they want to. I'd love nothing more than for this to be 12 seasons and do it that way, but it's not going to happen. We have about 16 or so episodes left and that is it.

Also, I don't know what you've watched of the other seasons, but there are less setup episodes this season than all the other seasons. To each their own I guess.

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E07) -- "The Broken Man" -- 6/5/16

I thought that this was the best episode of the season. The writing was sharp in every scene. It would have been boring if Jon/Sansa/Davos had easily gotten the support of the houses. Chuckled a bit after Wun Wun (the giant) gave his support and the other wildling leaders thought "well, if he supports him we better too"

I am definitely surprised about McShane's character only lasting an episode. Figured an actor of his stature would have a bigger role. Also interested to find out why in the world the Brotherhood without Banners would slaughter these people...that's out of character for this group.

I can see casual fans being bored by this one the way they seemed to be by last week's. Fuck 'em. Episode was solid. Even if still no Rickon torture.

Yeah, I don't know, maybe it's just me but i'm rarely ever bored by Game of Thrones. Outlander bores me more than Game of Thrones ever has and I have been enjoying Outlander a lot. I just space sometimes with that show.

Also I am safely assuming that letter Sansa wrote is going to Littlefinger, basically saying "Forget what I said, we need your support"

Yeah, Littlefinger, who else?

The episode was fine to me, but it wasn't as action packed as the previous ones.

I thought, even think right now, that the bag with the coins would save Arya. That the blade hit the bag and the hits weren't that lethal. It's a really old trick, heavily used, but still.

Yeah, I'm shocked about how short McShane's role was. Still great to see him.

I knew The Hound would show up. Glad to see him back. I just hope he doesn't hold a grudge against Arya. Speaking of whom, how was she so unprepared? I'm sure every viewer that saw the 'old woman' knew who it actually was. Arya should have, as well.

Hello, Bronn!

I haven't read the books, but can't imagine how anyone would be bored by this episode. The return of two popular characters, as well as Ian McShane, and Wun Wun!

If so, they would've showed it this episode. Won't have any impact if they wait for next week.

Yeah, that was dumb. Both on her part and the writers.

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E07) -- "The Broken Man" -- 6/5/16

Didn't care for any of the Hound stuff, especially since all those people were just there as cannon fodder and didn't like all that time spent just to do a very stereotypical "villagers killed while he's away" type of thing, especially featuring the savage guy trying to be good.

Also thought Arya getting stabbed felt too easy and she definitely should have been expecting the worst from everyone.
