Uktv?

I just added this Roku channel. Its from the people who brought you Canada TV.

There are too many channels too mention but it does include BBC One,BBC Two,BBC Three and BBC Four.

Like Canada TV,it's 1.99 a month.

Check it out.

Re: Uktv?

That's a better bargain than the Canada one, I may have to buy in on that.

Re: Uktv?

Is it live streams from all those channels? How is the quality? Any of them in HD?

Here's the channel page:

Re: Uktv?

I got the weekly Roku email and saw this and I just noticed that UK Gold is not included?- that stinks as thats where all the classic britcoms are
If anyone subscribes to it please let us know if Gold is part of the channel lineup.

Re: Uktv?

I didn't notice it.

First day observations.

a.) the HD overall isn't very good

b.) I counted 35 channels.

c.) getting back to the HD-I look at it this way. When I watch You Tube and consider something historic, the picture quality doesn't matter(unless it's unwatchable). UKTV is watchable and probably will be better over time and they probably will add channels.

d.) They have a horror channel simply called Horror.

e.) would like too see more variety with the channels(news, sports, weather) but not too much too complain about.

f.) still waiting on Canada TV too see if they get CBC HD and CTV channels located in Eastern Time Zone.

g.) I watch too much TV

Re: Uktv?

I posted on Roku's FB page why Gold is not part of the lineup- If I get an answer I will post their response here.

Re: Uktv?

I subscribed the other day. Here's a few impressions.

It looks like the channel's just aggregating livestreams from FilmOn. There's a FilmOn logo in the upper right corner that never goes away. That's kinda annoying. It doesn't bother me too much on reality shows like Top Gear. But I wouldn't want to watch a movie with that giant logo.

Since these are livestreams of UK networks, primetime shows air mid-afternoon in the USA. Likewise, if you're watching during primetime hours, you're getting crappy shows from 1-3 AM. So it's not bad if you're sitting home all day. But if you're looking for something to watch at night, the selection sucks.

And since it's livestreams, all the channels have commercials (except the BBC networks).

The video quality isn't too bad. It's definitely watchable. But it's a step below Cable HDTV. I watched the new episode of Top Gear on my 40-inch TV and it looked fine.

The only way to tell what's currently on, or coming up next, is to check out some TV listing website. I wish there was a schedule on the app. Or the program title at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds.

I bet this channel gets shut down within a month. Frankly, I'm surprised it was ever approved by Roku. These channels with unlicensed livestreams get removed all the time. Too bad it wasn't private. It might slip under the radar. But this guy's charging for it. That's crazy.

Re: Uktv?

There is an FilmOn Unofficial Channel on Roku. Seems to have a lot of the UKTV (if not all of it) for free.

There is a tv guide that lists the current and upcoming tv show.

I noticed they have a NWA(wrestling) channel. Great-I'll never stop watching TV.
