I want to get a DD/DTS receiver. I currently have two Cerwin Vega loudspeakers with 10" woofers and Cambridge Surround I speakers for surround and a Cambridge Center Channel as well. I don't have a subwoofer yet. I've never had a problem generating bass with the Cerwin Vega's. Can I purchase "just" the receiver, or do I need to be saving up for the subwoofer also. If a subwoofer is mandatory, then I need advice on what to buy on a budget. Thanks guys!

Receiver is more important than subwoofer!
Subwoofer you can buy later. I once played my dvds without a sub for 6 months. I am not a bass person although I do have one...a 35watts Aiwa! http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/biggrin.gif!
Little thing kicks ass though..but my speakers have ton of bass (RF-3's Klipsch Reference).
If your speakers generate pretty good bass enough to be sufficent without the sub, then?
But..if you wait to save loot for the receiver and sub..chances are that the price of the receiver went down. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/wink.gif

Definately get a reciever ASAP! DD/DTS will blow you away! I found it was nice to buy stuff in pieces so you could enjoy each upgrade. Also as you sem to enjoy CSW keep in mind CSW does ebay auctions and you can get better than sales prices on thier subs. I paid about 250 for 10"PSW which has a sale price of 350 or so. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif Just search for Cambridge SoundWorks on ebay seller name "hifi.com".
