Let's compare Batman V. Superman and Captain America: Civil War
I figure there will be a lot of this kind of talk anyway, and maybe better to split it off into its own thread.
Rather than just "DC movies suck" and "Marvel movies rule" it'd be interesting to look at the different approaches to the shared universe, and why Marvels' more or less are seen to 'work' and DC so far is pretty mixed.

Let's not, m-kay?
Okay, I'll start with one big difference - the story. DC doesn't know what the hell to do with it. Marvel took 10 years creating characters in their own worlds. DC wants it all in one fell swoop. Top that with bad direction, and now you have what exists today.

I'll do spoilers at least until CW's been out more than a few days...
I'll go on the record as liking BvS but not loving it and recognising it has many flaws, while pretty much loving Civil War.

Yes. Yes we do. Then another to trash on Civil War besting BvS by how much? Comes with a poll of course.
Then another on which movie has better music themes - CW or BvS?
So on and so forth. Paging Oldboy. Set those threads up.

We all know how this is going to turn out. I think it's still funny that those of us who don't like the current DC films are haters and Marvel fanboys though. Just Marvel has done a better job with their films to date.

I think he just means in terms of quality that's where they each excel. Although unless you only count the ABC Marvel shows I disagree since the Marvel Netflix shows are as good or better than the DC shows currently airing.

But the big deal is the movies. How much money does The Flash and Arrow pull in? How does one figure that shit out on our side?

DC doesn't have an extended movie universe yet. They're barely 1, maybe 1.5 movies into it. sure, they WANT one, and making all these announcements like they're planning one, but it doesn't exist yet. Let's see a few more come out, how they're executed, and how they come together.
If you want to pit BVS against what the MCU has now, then shit, you already know how it's gonna go down and there's no crying "Martha" to stop that beatdown

After seeing Civil War I have to say that it just amplifies the problems of Batman V Superman. Marvel delivered such a better made film in so many ways. Very layered and thought provoking and it takes itself seriously enough yet knows how to have fun. Great characters with motivations for what they're doing that make sense and follow a coherent plot. Just a better film all together.

Ditto. The audience was having a great time with CW, no one was having a great time at Bats v Supes. The Russos make Zack Snyder look like Ed Wood.

Re: Let's compare Batman V. Superman and Captain America: Civil War
even for having to introduce black panther and this new spidey into the mix, Civil War just really ran laps around BvS in terms of doing a great job balancing all the characters it was fitting in to this film.
That's the main difference I felt. That and the actual enjoyment one had even though it was some rather dark subject matter.
But hey, can't wait to be called a mouth breathing h8er for not drinking the dark and gritty DC kool-aid

There really is no comparison. BvS isn't even in the same league as Civil War.

why compare... they are two totally different types of superheros... DC is rather gloom. Id rather compare all of those to Deadpool.

I'd rank them
Civil War
BvS
Deadpool
I enjoyed Deadpool enough in theaters but when I saw it on home video it didn't have that epic-ness to it. It was just alright and the character gets grating quite fast.

And it's also not just money. The Marvel movies have worldwide cachet. I don't picture someone in Asia sitting down to watch Arrow.

Re: Let's compare Batman V. Superman and Captain America: Civil War
I also think Deadpool was overrated and would absolutely rank it below BvS. If I remember correctly there was a Fred Durst joke in it which struck me as odd since Deadpool is arguably the Fred Durst of comics characters and was certainly created by the Fred Durst of the comics world.
In any case, I was really rooting for DC and still think BvS was over-bashed. The Marvel vs DC fanboy war is insane to me because unlike something like video game consoles that require an investment of hundreds of dollars nobody has to pick sides, and I've always been happy to enjoy characters from both companies. You don't get anything out of one company beating the other but everyone wins when both are at the top of their game.
Having said that, Civil War undeniably deals an epic blow to DoJ. If you wanted to be kind to DoJ I think you could easily make the case that the ultimate showdown between the two characters was done better in DoJ. That's a substantial win, it's not grasping at straws by any stretch, but in the big picture CW runs circles around DoJ.
