Good ep. I still feel for sorry for Gordon. Everything is going to hit the fan soon.

Penguin. Riddler. Hugo Strange. Mr. Freeze. Barbara. Azreal... and maybe Fish Mooney.

Not looking good.

I guess they did as good a job with Azreal as they could given the constraints of this timeline.

I liked how Bruce was just taking in all of the Azreal theatrics. You could practically see the light bulb going off in his head.

Strange using Alice in Wonderland for the persona of his next villain has me wondering if The Mad Hatter will show up. The quote Strange reads, The Mad Hatter?

Great episode. So glad to see Nygma back in action. Pretty cool seeing Bruce watch Azrael run around in the cape with the music playing.

And one of the guys in that asylum group scene with Nygma looked very much like the men typically cast as the Mad Hatter in Alice adaptations.

Great episode. I have to admit I was wrong about them bringing back Galavan. If the previous episodes featuring that character were as good as this last one, this season wouldn't have had as many disappointing episodes.

I wasn't familiar with the Azreal character so I thought perhaps they were setting Galavan up as a version of Ra's Al Ghul, at least in his own mind.

There were a couple of other easter eggs in those books carried by Hugo Strange. This show is going to feel weird in a couple of seasons when every Batman villain has already appeared.

I personally want to see KGBeast.

I didn't like the Galavan character or story line, so this worked better than I expected, what with Galavan completely losing his identity. Loved Bruce being enthralled by Azrael. The wheels were definitely turning in his head.

Re: Gotham (S2E19) -- "Wrath of the Villains: Azrael" -- 5/2/16

For the record, I don't expect a live action show based in Gotham to be in the same Bat Universe as the 90's Batman: The Animated Series.

The details of what I'm talking about are fuzzy since it's be twenty years or more since I last saw the episode in the 90's version of BTAS. There was an episode where somehow Batman and a woman attorney were trapped inside Arkham Asylum.

The super villains then proceed to put Batman on trial (With the Joker being the judge) and one by one, they testified that the reason they became super villains was due to Batman.

But in this show, most of the super villains will have been around for years until Bruce becomes Batman. Also, most of the villains will be at least ten to fifteen years older or more than Bruce/Batman when he finally arrives on the scene in Gotham.

This show was never about Batman and will never have Batman on it. So they can use all the villains they want. No need to save anyone for later because Batman isn't going to be on the show later.

I'd love a scenario where the show is successful for a good few years then the series finale ends with Bruce putting on the mask for the first time...cut to black.

We'll never get Batman on this show. That is iron clad. I think they had intended to draw out the introduction of his villains as long as possible but quickly realized fans wanted to see familiar villains on the screen.

I hated it when Gordon killed Galavan last season. I didn't see the purpose of it, other than cheap shock value. But I was wrong. I loved in this episode how Gordon spoke to Bruce about the importance of not killing your enemies. It never occurred to me that they would use Gordon's killing of Galavan to be an apparent influence on Batman's aversion to killing. I must say, well done.

This show is really starting to get into gear

I just wish they had started with Bruce wayne a few years older so he could start to kick a bit of ass

but the development of all the villians is cool

Yes, but wouldn't the fact that Bruce knows that Gordon is a murderer effect his working with him as Batman?
