Looking for a DVD/HDD combo or some sorta of DVD recorder
Hi!
I need help! My old Pioneer DVD/HDD recorder* is on its last legs, which makes me a very sad panda. No one seems to make/sell such things anymore.
As I have it currently set up, I record lots of classic movies off Turner Classic to my PVR, and then run the PVR through the Pioneer to burn and save them to disc. What would you suggest as an alternative? Is there a way to run a PVR into a computer and then use its built-in DVD burner, for example?
Thanks!
*EDIT: Mods won't let post an external link? Anyway you can find it by googling "Pioneer DVR-633H-S DVD Recorder"

You need to have 30 posts in the forums before you can post links. And you pretty much answered your own question by saying no one sells/makes them anymore. EBay may be your best/only shot for something like this.
But the computer solution may work.

You can try the DVD Recorders (Standard Def) over at AVS Forums.

There is a person named "Mickinct" that repairs Panasonic dvd recorders. I'm not sure if her repairs other brands. But you could PM him or post a msg in that thread & ask.

As long as the HD of the Pioneer still works you can record onto the hard drive then burn using any method you can hook the Pioneer up to.
I had a Panasonic with built in HD but it quit reading blank discs. I still use the HD to record and then burn using a second recorder(no HD) the Panasonic is plugged into.
