I have a 1991 Velodyne F1500B (15") subwoofer as part of a home theater system. It does not work due to a problem with the amplifier. The speaker cone had also deteriorated so I had it re-coned. The person that re-coned it did not hook up the accelerometer circuit. When I talked to Velodyne they said that circuit was necessary. The bottom line is that Velodyne quoted a price of $350-$450+ to fix it.
It looks like my options are:
1. Pay Velodyne to fix it.
2. Replace the amplifier with a new one and hook it up to the newly re-coned 15" speaker. This will cause me to make some modifications to the cabinet. (Partsexpress was recommended as vendor.)
3. Replace the amp with an external monoblock amplifier (Marantz makes a couple).
4. Start over and buy a new subwoofer.
The rest of the system is a Denon 2800, NHT SuperZeros and a SuperCenter. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

I'd say to hell with it and go invest that money in the NHT SubOne.

I agree with chess.I used to own the highly regarded Mirage BPS-400 (dual 12 inch subs with 400 watts of power with 1600 watts peak).I decided to try the SVS subs and all I can say is WOW.I bought a pair of SVS 20-39`s tuned to 18Hz and they sound incredible. The beauty of SVS is they sound just as good for music as they do for hometheater. The only downfall of SVS is the waiting list. The powered models are about 2 months and the passive models are about 1 month. They are well worth the wait.
