MLB The Show 16 -- 3/29/16

This comes out next week. Seems to be little interest in it. I preordered it and can't wait. It's my first copy of The Show since 2012. Here are a couple videos of the improvements in this year's edition.

I played last years game for the PS3 and looking forward to getting it of the PS4 this year. I have a backlog of games so I probably won't get into this until the summer.

Always a fan of The Show though.

Cool that you can finally choose to play with the roof open or closed on the retractable roof stadiums.

Some of the stadium graphic improvements sure look pretty, but the amount of time you'll ever see them seems to defeat the purpose.

Great to see some classic stadiums added again. Wish they'd have more. I got spoiled from MVP Baseball on PC when we could mod and create just about any stadium we ever wanted and make them with the actual ads. Can't believe it's been 11 years since the last MLB version of that game.

Patiently awaiting tonight's release. Haven't played this in a few years.

Re: MLB The Show 16 -- 3/29/16

Played a game with my Astros tonight. As I mentioned in the OP, it had been a few years since I had played, so I put it on rookie difficulty and won 20-1 with 9 homeruns

I know I shouldn't bitch about this sort of stuff, but it's the little things that count...I'm not that impressed with the player models. Some guys look way off. Correa looks nothing like his real life counterpart, and there are things such as Josh Fields has blonde hair in real life, but in the game it's dark brown, or Jake Marisnick, in the game he has a buzz cut but he's had long hair since he's been on the Astros. Come on MLB The Show creators, you can't screw this stuff up. Just have an intern look at the player models and compare them to real life photos and make any changes as needed.

Also a random bit, but I was kinda annoyed that you didn't hear the pop of the glove when a ball was caught.

Again, these are just my first initial impressions.

I'm passing this year. I've pre-ordered every season and always come away disappointed. It's the best baseball game on the market but it never quite holds my interest for more than a few games.

Do you notice this with all the players? I'm surprised Correa is off since he's a big name player. Maybe it's because he's new and they had nothing to base him off of from before. Does Dallas Kuechel look right?

I think these games nail the player models on the big name players but dog it on the lesser known ones. I agree, it shouldn't be THAT hard to get them all right. I notice the same thing with NHL 16. The player models they decide to focus on are pretty good and the rest seem to be put together at random.

Kyle Schwarber looks absolutely horrendous in this game. It's really jarring coming from playing NBA2K16 and how beautiful that game is.

Re: MLB The Show 16 -- 3/29/16

I still have only played one game, and it was against the no name Braves, so I'm not sure how the player models are for other teams. But as an Astros fan, I am unimpressed with my teams models. Keuchel looks OK, alittle thinner than he is in real life.

Batting stances at least look decent.

Player models are definitely lackluster. And there are some crazy eyes in this game, Sherzer is a good example.

For a game that sells itself as much on presentation as gameplay, this sounds disappointing.

Re: MLB The Show 16 -- 3/29/16

I see that gamebreaking bugs are still around.
My buddy and I started an online franchise season and after finishing my second game of the season, it didn't even register as having been played. And now just shows as "In progress" on the calendar schedule. Nothing kills my desire to play a game quite like playing through 9 innings for nothing.
My buddies second game was null and void as well thanks to a server disconnect.

I hope that's fixed. I hated that bug.

Are the servers getting hammered? I can't get my free card packs.

I played a game as the Cardinals tonight. I homered with Jhonny Peralta, and the announcers said it was his first major league homerun...

Hitting is way too easy now.

Not that I'm complaining

Just want to come back and say that my game did eventually register as played and count, so what I thought was some game breaking bug actually wasn't. And for the record I haven't had any other issues so far. Really enjoying the game. Though they did take a step backwards for some reason with the player models, especially the hair.

Re: MLB The Show 16 -- 3/29/16

I haven't played The Show in a few years so it was good to play again.
Started up RTTS as a starting pitcher, but haven't progressed very far yet.
I can't pick Fister as an announced last name? I wanted my player to be related to Doug Fister.

Roster updates are supposed to be automatic right? It doesn't appear that as of last night that the rosters had been updated to the opening day rosters.

It'd be funny if players who do amazingly well get drug tested.
