Heartbeat (NBC) -- Series Thread -- S: Melissa George
"Heartbeat" is a character-driven medical series that follows the professional and personal life of world-renowned heart transplant surgeon Dr. Alex Panttiere (Melissa George, "The Slap"). There is nothing conventional about Dr. Panttiere, who is as cutting edge and unorthodox in the OR as she is with the two men in her life. Her approach to medicine is without boundaries, as is her approach to everything else in her world. Between Dr. Panttiere's hectic hospital life where she is caught between two brilliant but stubborn surgeons (Dave Annable and Don Hany) and her household of two kids and a gay rock star ex-husband (Joshua Leonard), Alex is constantly striving to overcome numerous daily obstacles and be the best mother and doctor possible.

This was originally supposed to air in November, but was postponed because Melissa George was pregnant at the time. Chicago Med took it's place.
I like Melissa George, but I don't know if I have time to watch this. I already watch Chicago Med and I like Code Black a lot. I don't know if I have room to watch a 3rd Medical drama. If I try this, I'll have to do it with Hulu since I have several DVR conflicts on it's regular night/time. This time of year it's tough to try to add a new drama to your viewing rotation without falling behind on other things.

I'm glad to see NBC exploring some new dramatic territory. Calls herself "Alex", does she? Kind of unusual, but it might catch on.

It was ok. I'll probably watch this because it was more lighthearted than most medical shows. The never-ending string of men in her life was a little over the top (a rock star gay ex-husband? ok, that is random).
The older doctor she is pining for almost seems like a alternate universe version of Grey's Anatomy.

i watched it and didn't turn it off. i like Melissa George. not sure i will get into this, but i will give tonight's episode a shot and see what happens...

I watched it also because I like Melissa George. I didn't think it was that bad. The ex-husband subplot is what I didn't like. I'll probably DVR the episode that is on tonight.
