The Real O'Neals (ABC) -- Series Thread
A seemingly perfect family's life takes an unexpected turn when surprising truths are revealed. Instead of ruining their family, the honesty triggers a new, messier chapter where everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real. "The Real O'Neals" stars Martha Plimpton as Eileen, Jay R. Ferguson as Pat, Noah Galvin as Kenny, Matthew Shively as Jimmy, Bebe Wood as Shannon and Mary Hollis Inboden as Jodi. "The Real O'Neals" teleplay was written by Casey Johnson & David Windsor and Josh Sternin & Jennifer Ventimilia, based on a story by Josh Sternin & Jennifer Ventimilia. Executive Producers of the series are Casey Johnson, David Windsor, Stacy Traub, Dan Savage, Brian Pines, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Dan McDermott and Todd Holland.

I know nothing except from what I saw in the previews, and based on that, I can't see it being on the air in a month.

Scrolling by, I thought the show's title was "The Ryan O'Neals." That made me curious for a second.

I remember when this show was called The McCarthys and was on CBS. I like Martha Plimpton, so I'll check it out.

I only watched the pilot. The only character I liked was the gay son. I'll watch episode 2 in the morning to see if it improves.

Same here. I made it about 10 minutes into the second episode. Canceling this show would be a mercy killing.

I watched the second episode tonight and I didn't like it. Most of the reviews have been bad. This will probably be getting canned soon. I just hope Martha Plimpton finds a better project.

Wow, I guess I'm in the minority, I only watched the first episode so far but I enjoyed it, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to comedies.

actually I wasn't all impressed with the first two episodes, but this is finally getting into a stride - the most recent episode Matthew Shively really was proving his comedic chops.

"The Real Thang" - When Kenny, Jimmy and Shannon head back to school, Kenny decides to start the first LGBT club at St. Barklay's in honor of National Coming Out Day. After only recruiting one meek lesbian named Allison, Kenny pressures her into coming out to her family and ultimately realizes everyone's journey isn't as easy as his own. Meanwhile, Eileen realizes she might have real feelings towards VP Murray, unfortunately Pat also befriends him, which leads to an awkward situation, on the season premiere of "The Real O'Neals," TUESDAY, OCTOBER 11 (9:30-10:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.
