Tony Burton, the actor who played Tony “Duke” Evers in the “Rocky” movies has died. He was 78.
The former football player and boxer appeared alongside Sylvester Stallone and Carl Weathers in the first six films of the hit franchise as Apollo Creed’s trainer.
Weathers confirmed Burton’s death in a heartfelt tweet Thursday night.

I wish he could have been a part of Creed, but that was one of my favorite parts from Rocky Balboa. RIP

Yeah. He was definitely missed in Creed.
He should have been in more flicks. I always liked his presence. Looking at imdb, he appears to have mainly stuck to TV shows and TV movies.

First film I ever saw him in was Assault on Precinct 13 on cable in the 70's.
