Quick summation:
- New ship called Brena A with the youngest captain ever on the show, he's just 23. His dad was captain and died of ALS.
- Jake Anderson is still running the Saga, got some quota from Sig
- Cornelia Marie is back after a $1m overhaul
- Keith Coburn split from his wife, and Jon Hilstrand is the one who helps him deal
- Same old for the Time Bandit
- Wild Bill is looking to retire and gives his kid much more responsibility, like hiring the deck crew.

Yup. Forgot it in my cliff notes.
BTW the kid running the Brena A is related to the state's Senator Lisa Murkowski. His father is her cousin.

Sig Hansen had a "widowmaker" heart attack but survived. For now. Remember, Phil seemed to survive his stroke.

Another victory for smoking. And the Bering Sea lifestyle.
Update:
Captain Sig Hansen narrowly dodged a true "Deadliest Catch" moment when he fell unconscious on the deck while fishing for crab.
Sources close to production tell TMZ ... Sig and the crew of the F/V Northwestern were at sea, with cameras rolling, when the captain briefly passed out. We're told Sig brushed it off when he came to, and wanted to keep fishing.
The production crew insisted he get medical attention, and he was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
His daughter posted a pic of him smiling in his hospital room. The family thinks he suffered a heart attack, but doctors are still running tests.

Not really looking forward to seeing this on the show. Sig has always been that unbreakable force. Seeing him go down will be tough to watch.

Makes you wonder what would have happened if the production crew wasn't there to insist he get help. Would his brothers prevail on him or just shrug and say 'Sig's being Sig' and give in to him.

Sig must smoke like what? five six packs a day? Same as Phil Harris.
Turns out you can't actually live all that great on coffee, red bull, and cigarettes.

I would hope his crew would have made the same call on their own. I guess it depends on how bad it seemed when it happened.

Sig interview
https://www.yahoo.com/tv/sig-hansen-...002558837.html
Mandy wasn’t aboard when you fell unconscious. When you came to, you actually wanted to keep on fishing, but the Deadliest Catch crew convinced you to head to Dutch Harbor?
Yeah, I wanted to keep going. I was in denial. It was more denial than anything else. We got the boat in, and I was in Dutch Harbor for, I think, two hours, and they were doing their tests, because it was a sneaky one. Then we found out it was a full blown heart attack, and then we did the medevac to Anchorage. I think what saved my life was the shot you get for any blood clots. There was a blood clot lodged in one of my arteries, and it dissolved it. And then, of course, you get treated for the heart attack, if you need stints and all this other stuff. But I’m a pretty lucky guy, because it was right there on a wishbone, and had it gone the one way, down the widowmaker, there would have been no chance. It got lodged right up there, so pretty lucky.
....
You’ve been getting a lot of well wishes from fans. How does that feel?
It’s very flattering. So far I haven’t been criticized too much, so I think that’s a good thing. I’ve been hearing from my family, who are going through the texts and Twitter and Facebook. For me, right now, the truth of the whole matter is, my cholesterol is fine. I don’t have high blood pressure. My arteries aren’t the greatest, but they’re no different than a regular 50-year-old guy. [The doctor] said stress and genetics were probably the biggest contributors. You know, dad collapsed from a heart attack, and I’ll probably be next. I don’t want to be.

Jake Andersen is proving to be a douche as a captain. Always found him whiney, and he should not be a captain. He has always wanted to get off deck and I don't blame him, but he just seems far too immature. That guy that trains Josh also seems like a grade 1 a-hole. Just always comes off as highly unlikable.

Yeah, I liked Jake Anderson as a deckhand. But he's way out of his depth as a captain. I know there's a steep learning curve, but at some point he needs to make a decision for himself. Not keep asking everyone else for help.

Re: Deadliest Catch S12 - 3/29/16
Yeah its laughable that he has no sooner cast off than he is calling people to ask for help. It also made me laugh when his friend the new deckhand was a waste of space and he didn't even have the balls to put the guy in his place and threaten him with firing his ass. He was apologizing and wimping out. Pathetic. And i know that the long hours and worry can take its toll on a person, but jesus he looks like he is on heroin or something. His face is like something off the Walking Dead these days. Also he keeps on talking about how its his boat....well its Elliotts isnt it? And that loser is still probably trying to keep off the coke and heroin after his rehab at Passages. That guy is one serious loser. Kinda miss him, as its such a train wreck to watch his life unfold. Pure gold to see such a douche get the shit end of the stick constantly.

I think they mentioned in the season opener that Elliott had sold the boat to someone else, and Jake was just running it.

Re: Deadliest Catch S12 - 3/29/16
Funny, seem to recall reading an interview with Elliott online since the beginning of the year saying that he had taken out for rehab and then was taking a year out to enjoy life a little and hopes to be back for the next season. Nothing mentioned about selling his boat. He has only just bought it really, so surprised he would be "jumping ship" quite so literally and quickly.

Elliot was pretty bitter over how he was portrayed, but then again those are the words of an addict getting outraged that he was shown to be an addict.
I miss Scott Campbell Jr. more. He was good. You guys are right, Jake A is way too emo to be a captain. He's been through a LOT since starting this show, with his father being murdered and sister dying, but still, he needs to stop saying "I love you" to all the guys around him.
Still, he's better than that braying Texas donkey on Storage Wars.

Been interesting this season watching Captain Keith implode. Seems like every captain has had his issues with addiction of one kind or another.

I've always disliked Keith on the show but you gotta feel for the guy with what he's dealing with. Sounds like it was pretty messy and not his decision. Dealing with that at his age must be tough.

Turns out I watched it out of order. Now I see what happened. Hard to picture Keith partying, but I guess he is not immune to temptations.

Re: Deadliest Catch S12 - 3/29/16
Jake Anderson is not cut out to be a captain. He acts incredibly immature, does not know how to talk to people at all and is quick to beg for help the first second he faces trouble finding crab. I understand the desire to get to be captain as it pays a lot better and its a whole lot better being sat in the wheel house than out on deck, but if it were my boat and watching the way he is....he would be replaced. Sure there are tonnes of guys with more experience who would do a better job. Edgar for a start.

He know what it takes to run the boat but he has a lot to learn regarding leadership. Considering his options, giving them a 2nd chance was probably his best bet. Otherwise he's had to grab whoever was available at the dock (if anyone).
