Deftones - Gore - 4/8/16
Deftones have announced a new album, Gore. The followup to 2012's Koi No Yokan is out April 8 via Warner Bros. Today, they premiered "Prayers/Triangles," on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio Show.

While I'm always excited for a new deftones release...that single didn't do much for me.

As Deftones have moved more toward shoegazer rock, I find their singles work better within the context of the record. Still pumped for this one, though.

Ha wtf is "shoegazer rock" lol. Their last album wasn't great it just had a couple of outstanding songs.

I can't think of any Deftones album that I would consider a disappointment. If anything the last two have been excellent. I expect no different from the this new album.
Even the Crosses and Palms Moreno projects that came out within the last few years have been worth the listen.

I am sure my namesake won't disappoint. It took me a few listens to get into prayers/triangles.
Sucks that this has been delayed so long. This was supposed to come out last year. I hope they do a national headline tour in support of this.

Just to even things out here, I have done plenty of drugs and also love the Deftones.
Also, they really need to give Eros a release. Kinda ridiculous there's been no movement on that front.

Been listening to the following tracks on repeat:
Leathers
Rocket Skates
Needles and Pins
You've seen the butcher
Soon I will be going back to their older stuff as well.
Deftones were never an acquired taste for me - just got into them right from the get go.

Re: Deftones - Gore - 4/8/16
Deftones have crept their way up into my favourite bands of all-time. I started listening to them because of Limp Bizkit () and Korn ( ). Needless to say, I don't listen to either of those bands anymore, but Deftones is on regular rotation.
I am VERY excited to see them in Houston next month.
edit: <- also, not a pothead.

I don't listen to Deftones, but this article popped up in my facebook feed today, and thought it was interesting:

Deftones will be releasing Gore on April 8 and everyone seems pretty stoked on the release. Everyone except for guitarist Stephen Carpenter, that is. In an interview with Ultimate Guitar, Carpenter says that throughout the writing process, he wasn't too keen on the album's direction. He said, at first he didn't even want to play on the record

Def an interesting read. I know Carpenter digs metal so it's understandable the band's direction has been bumming him out. I'm sure he pushes for a harder sound but that just isn't what Chino seems to like anymore. I still love Deftones but I'd love to hear them get a bit more metal on a future record.
