Hulk #181 abuse!
Abuse of Hulk 181 @ comic store. I guess the guy was trying to sell it but was clueless about comics. No audio.

Gotta wonder where he picked it up from in the first place.
I bought that issue off the stands and sold it a few years ago. Got just under a grand for it! See what happens when ya don't abuse your comic books??

Re: Hulk #181 abuse!
Someone will still pay $100 for that abused copy. We get people like that on our comic book store and they simply have no idea of the comics they got in their collection. Like 5 months ago, a guy came with 2 plastic tubs to our store full of comic books and had Batman Adventures #12 and and Star Wars #2 35 cent with UPC variant (worth around $1000) mixed inside with a bunch of crap. He told us to get both tubs for $50. Another lady came by with her late sons collection and told us to get the comics for free. The guy had 3 copies in NM of Amazing Spider-Man #300, Hulk #180, #182 and #271, New Mutants #98 and the first appearance of the Falcon.

Re: Hulk #181 abuse!
I drove past a garage sale one day several years ago and saw a few long boxes on a table. I got off to look and was stunned to see they contained a pretty good run of Amazing Spider-Man (from around 150 to 325), plus another nice run of Web of Spider-Man. I asked the person having the garage sale about the comics and they said they had a tenant renting a garage apartment who had left them and never came back for them. I asked the guy what he wanted for them. He took a minute to figure out what was the most money he'd think I'd pay for them since I was obviously interested. He said $50 a box for them. I happily paid the guy and went on my merry way.

Could the video be a joke. Wasn't there a video on youtube of a girl that made a fake copy of that issue and went to a comiccon to ask a vendor how it was worth. She told them she took it from her boyfriend who had cheated on her. When they told her how much it was worth, she just tore it up to get revenge on her boyfriend.

Re: Hulk #181 abuse!
Not even same planet in value, and sure I've told this story at least once, but this thread reminds me of a minor similar event in my life back around 1978 or so. My mom was reading one of my comics, House of Secrets #~150 and was holding it in a way that bothered my collector sensibilities. I think I blurted out a taboo word in my protestations and it pissed off my normally calm and overly kind mother enough to rip the entire comic in half. I later retrieved it from the trash and taped it back together. Probably still own it, I'll check next time I uncover that longbox.

After reading the comments I crack up how little people know about art. Especially the comment about the Mona Lisa. Even if someone tears it up; it would still be worth exactly the same.
