Watch the Christmas Parody Infomercial the Ted Cruz Campaign Has Paid to Air During ‘SNL’ (link)

Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz will air a Christmas-themed parody infomercial during the broadcast of this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live.”

The ad, which features the Texas senator read Christmas classics like “Rudolph the Underemployed Reindeer” and “The Grinch Who Lost Her Emails,” will air in key Iowa markets Saturday night, campaign spokeswoman Catherine Frazier told the Independent Journal.

“In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, we are excited to bring a Cruz family Christmas into the homes of SNL viewers in Iowa,” she told the website. “Ted is a long time fan of SNL, so the chance to film his own SNL-style commercial was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up!”

Yawn on the political opening and the musical monologue.

What an awful end to the Clinton/Clinton/Palin sketch... can they still not think of a good way to close a sketch?

I'm going to bed. I'll catch the rest later.

Oh, looks like the next new ep is January 16th with Adam Driver (aka Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens).

What is up with all the technical difficulties tonight?

Can't remember an episode with so many commercials

Really disappointed in this episode. Some funny parts, but I expected much more.

Two very funny women hosting, and the only performance to get a laugh out of me was Maya Rudolph and her drunk 12 Days of Christmas.

I just found out the my sister used to work with Cecily Strong at Planned Parenthood. She said that Cecily was kind of a bitch.

Cecily Strong seems to be in the show less and less over the last few weeks, especially given the fact that she left WU in order to be a bigger part of the other parts of the show.

The future wife game show was a chuckle, nothing else comes to mind. Pretty bad considering.

Re: SNL (S41E09) -- 12/19/15 -- H: Tina Fey & Amy Poehler -- MG: Bruce Springsteen

I've heard that Will Ferrell and Lorne Michaels have regrets about how George Bush was played in 2000 and 2004. The joke was that they were portraying him as a dumb, but also very likable.

I think this in the background of how they portray Clinton, and why the sketches are not so good.

The joke behind the impersonation is that she REALLY wants to be president, and REALLY believes that she deserves to be president, but that determination and entitlement makes her cold. But SNL does not want to portray her as truly power-mad and unlikable because they don't want to hurt her candidacy. So instead, the sketches poke fun at her but also try to make her understandable.

The Clinton sketch tonight was not terrible, but certainly people were expecting more.

Right now all they want to do with Clinton is remind you of who her competition is/was, and make this joke

That Meet Your Second Wife sketch really hit home with the creepy connotations.

One of my co-workers wants to fix me up with her sister who was not born yet when I graduated from high school.

I love Bruce and all, love his songs, blah blah blah... but he has like FIVE guitars on stage, and yet they are all drowned out by the keyboards and saxophone. What kinds of ROCK band has keys and horns that are louder than a guitar, much less five guitars? I just don't get it.

There are 3 guitars in the band and a lot of his stuff was written on piano, thus making it the focal point of a lot of songs (the entire Born to Run album for example).

I know Fey as Palin was a huge hit when it was fresh but I actually felt sorry for Tina Fey having to dust off the cobwebs of her Palin act. Seriously? A Sarah Palin bit? SNL showing how topical they are.

There were FIVE guitars on stage during the SNL performance. Even still, that does not address the issue as there are many rock bands who write on piano, but don't drown out their guitars with horns and cheesy keyboard sounds like Bruce and E Street do. Good songs, they just sound bad and cheesy because of that.

I loved the finale song, but kinda think Bruce could've/should've let Paul sing a verse at the end.

2 of those 5 are just there to be there and don't add anything to begin with.

Ten bucks say it was Tina Fey's idea.
