Superstore (NBC) -- S: America Ferrera -- Series Thread -- Premieres 11/30/15
America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty") and Ben Feldman ("Mad Men," "A to Z") star in the hilarious workplace comedy "Superstore" (from the producer of "The Office") about a unique family of employees at a super-sized megastore. "Superstore" centers around Amy (Ferrera), the store's most stalwart employee as well as the glue holding the place together, and newly hired Jonah (Feldman), a naive dreamer determined to prove work doesn't have to be boring. Their fellow associates include the sardonic Garrett (Colton Dunn, "Key and Peele") the ambitious Mateo (Nico Santos, "Mulaney") and the sweet pregnant teenager, Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom, "Shameless"). Overseeing them all are Glenn (Mark McKinney, "Kids in the Hall") the store's affable, clueless store manager, and Dina (Lauren Ash, "Super Fun Night"), the aggressive assistant manager who lives by a very specific code - namely the store's employee handbook. From the bright-eyed newbies and the seen-it-all veterans to the clueless summer hires and the in-it-for-life managers, together they hilariously tackle the day-to-day grind of rabid bargain hunters, riot-causing sales and nap-worthy training sessions.

There are three episodes of this on Hulu. I liked them all. The third one is really funny.

I thought I was going to watch a few minutes and drop it, but I really liked it. The ending for the pilot was good. And some good moments in the second episode with the Happy Endings actress.
I'll continue to watch.

Okay. So I'm watching Superstore on Monday 12/28 and NBC keeps telling me that I can watch the premiere of Superstore on January 4.

It works as a spoof of Walmart, though a couple of the characters are so one-note that I cringed whenever I saw them. The unemployed rapping boyfriend that hangs out in the music department or whatever could get very, very annoying over time.
They've also made the store manager so feckless and dumb already that there is nowhere to go with the character.
I saw potential in these first three episodes but I would be very tempted as a network executive to tinker with it. I will say one thing, the show desperately needs a hot female co-lead. America Ferrera is not it. She's fine as the straight woman in the comedy but there is absolutely zero romantic tension between her and the male lead, Ben Feldman.

Saw the preview...I don't think anything short of a gun to my head could get me to watch this.

Didn't they show the first two episodes earlier than that, then reaired episode one last week (similar with telenovela?)

I watched the first 3 episodes because I was very bored... it was ok. A few good moments here and there and it has potential with a little tweaking, but I suspect it won't get any better.
Yea, I think I've seen that actor in something before and I'm sure he was doing a white-boy rapper act then too. Took a few minutes to recognize where I saw the girlfriend before - she was Lip's girlfriend from college on Shameless who we saw naked a few times already. She seems to be getting cuter.
He's way too dumb and awkward, and his voice is really annoying. I think he's a dead-end as well.
For some reason I find her voice kinda sexy, but she's average looking at best - and I agree that there's no real romantic chemistry between the two. In reality, I don't think the guy would've been attracted to her - especially not that quickly away.
They've also made the store manager so feckless and dumb already that there is nowhere to go with the character.

I think the Dina character is quite funny and weird crush on Jonah. Out of the three episodes, I liked the second one with Eliza Coupe as the reporter. I don't care for the manager or the pregnant girl with annoying boyfriend. I agree with previous posters, there isn't romantic chemistry between America Ferrera and Ben Feldman.

A theory that a woman, no matter how ugly she may seem at first, will eventually look beautiful to you if you see her every day all day.
Based off the theory that sailors used to spend months at sea and started to slowly see manatees turn into mermaids.

Well he was infatuated with her really early on, though it is true that she's the best of the options at work.

Exactly - which is why I stated that I didn't believe him being attracted to her so quickly since she's average looking. Over time it's more believable - it's happened to me as well.

I watched the fourth episode this morning. It was ok. The Dina character reminds me quite of Melissa McCarthy's character in Bridesmaids. Jonah and Amy are kind of growing on me. The pregnant girl and her boyfriend are still annoying. The manager character is hit or miss and he is like a dumber version of Barney from Raising Hope.
This show isn't doing too well in the ratings. But it did better than Telenovela. I think we might see a second season of this and Telenovela canned at the end of the season.

I could see Superstore being given another season to refine their comedic formula even if the ratings remain poor.

I know it is a supposed to be a joke that young, poor, and stupid people start shitting out babies when they are just teenagers, but it is not a joke that I find amusing. If these people consider themselves that pregnant girl's friend, they should have dragged her to an abortion clinic months ago.

I guess nobody's watching, but I'm glad they're moving past the Jonah/Dina storyline so quickly (at least, it seems that way).

I've caught the past few episodes. Looks like Jonah was just as shocked that Dina moved along too.
Last week's "All-Nighter" episode was fun... although I'm pretty sure it's against fire code to deny egress with a time-based lock.
Any show that plays Sepultura's "Roots Bloody Roots" for the sake of clearing out customers can't be too bad. The cast is active on Twitter too.
