These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.
The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.
Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.
Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

I don't generally enjoy anthologies but I really enjoyed this one. I think Mr. Punch could have went on to a good career of killing snot-nosed punks and stupid old ladies if they would have put a little effort into him. The second story was just there but adequately acted I suppose. The third story was really well done, just all around a good selection.

I'm predisposed to like anthology films, at least of the horror variety. There is something about the genre that lends itself to the compactness and linking that the stories sometimes contain.

Most anti-climatic opening ever, people randomly stealing VHS tapes – even if it’s nicely dated the wraparound doesn’t contribute much and the ending gag didn’t seem to need as much set-up [at first I thought her date was some ghoul, etc].
I liked the second story most of all – the strange hallucinatory imagery was good and I enjoyed the ‘twist’ ending. I especially found the skeptic psychic to be slyly funny (because she didn’t sense anything off the woman must be crazy). It is unusual that the person who most experiences the haunting/slasher events is the one safe from it all (by virtue of being in an asylum for the time). I couldn’t quite figure it out but it seemed like the visions were in anticipation of events yet to come (?) rather than hauntings of past events.
Mr Punch wasn’t bad for a killer doll (the vibrant color and older style wardrobe fit nicely); killer dolls coming to life feels boring to me but the doll as puppeteer was a cool twist. The weird grunting wheezy voice was a good touch.
Those gnomes are also creepy and simultaneously funny; balancing effectiveness and cheesiness like that is rare.

Wow, but this stunk up the place! I had to open a window after it was over to let out the stench!
Okay, I'm just kidding. It WAS bad, but entertainingly so. As far as the individual stories went, there was some great hand-acting in the first one; I agree with undeadcow that the second story was the best (even though I was most fixated on the lead's humongous eyeglasses); the third story was, to use a good British expression, daft; and the wraparound story was as random as they come.
Awful film. Just awful. I can't wait to show it to some friends.

I was taken out of it at first because she (and her glasses) looked a LOT like my sister & aunt at round-about that time...! Height of fashion...

Definitely - it was 'future echoes' rather than the more-common past events. The only clue was seeing her huband dead... but since she wasn't clear on it being him, that was still a bit cryptic. I did like the Psychic's dismissal too - I even wondered briefly if the husband had paid for a fake...
Sorry to be crude but super nice tits on the girl in the introduction.
Anyway, I liked this but it wasn't very good. I did like the creepy puppet voice in the first one and it was nice to see the old man get his revenge.
The second story was decent but seemed like the pacing was off for some reason. Could be I was tired. Nice twist ending that I didn't see coming.
The last story was terrible. I really didn't expect a real midget in a gnome suit doing the attack.

Outside the awesome puppet, this was just bad. Which sucked as I do enjoy these types of films, but there are quite a few better made films out there.
