Meanwhile, Evan loses his last baby tooth but isn't ready to join the big kid club, on the season premiere of "Fresh Off the Boat," TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 22 (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Inspired by a true story, "Fresh Off the Boat" stars Randall Park as Louis, Constance Wu as Jessica, Hudson Yang as Eddie, Forrest Wheeler as Emery, Ian Chen as Evan and Chelsey Crisp as Honey.

Guest starring are Lucille Soong as Grandma Huang, Rob Riggle as Gator Dan, Ed Lover as himself, Paul Scheer as Mitch, Sarah Baker as Gator Carol, Marques Ray as Gator Octavio, Riki Lindhome as Arielle, Luna Blaise as Nicole, Prophet Bolden as Walter, Evan Hannemann as Barefoot Dave, Trevor Larcom as Trent, Dash Williams as Brian, Brady Tutton as Brock and Ava Acres as "Fake" Kate.

No confirmed episode count yet. I would guess it gets 22.

Looking forward to this. Did the real Eddie leave this show and does that mean no more voice over?

I don't get the Boulevard of Broken dreams reference in the pic. Looking forward to it, too.

No more Voice Overs from what I gather, they had the younger brother do a recap from what I've read.

I really like this one. It's basically The Goldbergs in the mid 90's with a Chinese family.

Looking forward to this as well. Loved last season. Bonus points for getting Rob Riggle this season.

It had some moments, but it wasn't really that funny.

Felt really off without Eddie's narration from the 1st season.

at Jessica buying Eddie that Reading Rainbow T-shirt because there was a black man on it.

Honestly, Jessica kind of annoyed me. She was displaying the stereotypical frugal Asian woman traits.

I was laughing because she was reminding me of my own very frugal mother. I think those traits must cross color lines.

I don't think it's about being frugal. It's about getting the best shit for really cheap.

I loved that line .... " Every day you work is a vacation from poverty". I'm half Asian myself and my dad used to say things like that all the time lol.

I cracked up at the t-shirt.

Jessica also reminded me of several very frugal people that I know. I worked at a hotel one summer during college and I used to see people haggle with the front desk all the time.

I thought the premiere was ok. I kind of missed the narrations.

Re: Fresh off the Boat (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 9/22/15

Oh, here's a question. I noticed in last night's episode, it said "Inspired by 'Fresh Off the Boat' by Eddie Huang"

Did it always say "Inspired by", or did it say "Based on"?

This was a good episode. If I had more time I'd watch this every week but I feel much more comfortable dropping in and out of sitcoms than dramas.

Re: Fresh off the Boat (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 9/22/15

Thinking about Jessica buying Eddie the Reading Rainbow T-shirt because "it has a black man on it" is typical parent behavior that I think we all can relate to, regardless of ethnicity. There's not a person here who didn't have a parent or grandparent buy them something that they just KNEW we'd love, based on past behavior, but somehow totally missed the point. Then we had to wear it to school and get laughed at, just to avoid telling our parents how much we hated it.

i wonder if they'll make a joke about that parent behavior where when you say you like something and so they buy it for you until you are sick and tired of it.

(i said once...ONCE...that i thought the honey bunches of oats was pretty good. i think there was then honey bunches of oats bought for like a year and to this day it tastes like cardboard to me )

Been saying they should pair this with the Goldbergs to lock down an hour of broadcast tv.

Second episode was an improvement over the premiere. Funeral cutaway had me rolling.

I just wonder why Nicole was wearing a Phil Collins "Su-su-ssudio" shirt in what's supposed to be a 90s sitcom. Did the costume department for The Goldbergs show up at the wrong set?

^^ maybe it's like kids these days wearing a nirvana shirt and not knowing who Kurt cobain is
Spoiler:

Loved Jessica's clenched fist / stifled sigh when honey said she didn't play chess but did play twister

Re: Fresh off the Boat (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 9/22/15

I love this show. It's the only sitcom I watch anymore, now that Parks and Rec and Community are gone. The kids are all cast really well, including Eddie's schoolmates. The kid in the kilt in this episode is always funny and the kid with the glasses was cracking me up.

I really lost it during the Boyz II Men song when the youngest brother started in on the monologue part.
