Pretty sure I saw worms on Fett's bare hand. Wouldn't that mean he's infected? I thought they just sort of absorb into your skin, or do they have to dig in? I forgot.

Also, why in the hell did Eph grab a WWII era rifle? Those dealers said he could grab pretty much any gun he wanted for saving the dad's life. They had to have more advanced rifles available.

Yes on the worms.

As far as the gun goes - probably not, since they had been looted. You get what you can get.

I noticed that, too, but the main characters in this show have had ridiculously thick plot armor, so I figure Fett brushed the worms off before they could infect him.

They've consistently shown that to be impossible, the worms always burrow in before you can react. We'll see if the heroes play by different rules. If Fet saw them maybe he won't be stupid and hide it, but rather try the serum. They never used it on somebody so early in the infection cycle.

I didn't see any get through his skin so I figured he was okay. He jumped and brushed them off as soon as he noticed them. The others in the past that got infected, the worms had burrowed through the skin...

Re: The Strain (S2E09) -- "The Battle For Red Hook" -- 9/6/15

Not sure what I think of the new intro ... It is well done but the tone seems slightly off. Maybe it's just because it is new.

For an episode named "The Battle for Red Hook" I expected more of a battle. I guess it was OK for broadcast TV, but I would have loved to have seen the battle drawn out over a whole episode.

I'm still confused on what is happening in this world ... From the way they are telling the story, this is still only happening in New York. But how the hell is a local municipal politician the only official line of defense?

With Season 1 I caved in and read the book about 2/3rds of the way through the season without giving away too much. What are your thoughts on reading or not reading the next book?

Last two episodes have been good! Oh, and thank you for not taking the holiday off like some other newcomer show about the apocalypse!

That caught us off guard. I thought it was cool - it gave it that graphic novel feel to it.

No shit. That crap pissed me off.

Also Team Eph should just give up trying to shoot Kelly and Eichorst. They are excellent headshots when it comes to the standard variety munchers but they completely suck with the elevated ones.

Hell, Eph can't even hit a stationary target with a goddamn rifle.

At least the kid didn't try to get everybody killed this time. I still wonder what's happening in the rest of NYC, this can't be the only place under siege.

That part made me yell at my TV. Shooting a moving target with a pistol can be very difficult, even at relatively short distances. But if you can't hit a person-sized stationary target with a scoped rifle at 50 yards...

Yet the police firing line was hitting head shots from hundreds of feet away THROUGH a chain link fence in the dark.

The vampires were foolishly attacking along a 30-foot length of fence, when with their numbers they should have been attacking along a 200-foot front line.

Ok, they're vampires not freakin' military folk. The Master controls them like a hive mind - like the Borg. He flooded them to test the weakness of the barriers. The police and what few military personnel there were there all had high powered rifles, so it wasn't like they were shooting pieces of shit guns like the one Eph had. They had a bit more precision which is why they were landing those sweet head shots. I like how some of the vampires got caught on the barbed wired fences and the rest just walked climbed over them while they leaked out.

Ha ha, keep telling yourself that shit to justify shitty plot, brah.

I do love how their sabotage to a power plant is just flipping the switches off.

Why exactly would you bring a child with you on a mission to the power plant? That made no sense at all except as a plot contrivance.

Where else would they put him? On the frontlines? In Fet's apartment that mom and Nazi zombie know the location of? In some random apartment so he could get sniffed out by the creepy vamp kids?

As long as he's being hunted, he needs their protection, but they also clearly had stuff to do. So until mom is out of the picture we get a big escort mission.

Because the master knew where their hideout was. Who was going to stay behind to defend it and him?

Because he's safer with an adult around. Seriously where else or who else could they have left him with? Their home-base was discovered so they couldn't just leave him there alone.

*EDIT* aye, we three pretty much responded in sync, lol.
