Dr. Dre to finally release "new" album (Straight Outta Compton OST)

Linking the Rolling Stone article: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...track-20150729

Since Detox isn't happening, this is the best we can hope for. Basically sounds like a new album and says Dre is producing the whole thing. Will feature Kendrick Lamar and Eminem (assuming each will appear on multiple tracks) and some type of NWA reunion.

I'm excited about this. Dre kept it under wraps until the last minute. This should be out in the next couple weeks.

I'm game for anything Dr. Dre releases.

I'm really hoping the NWA tour happens with everyone. That would be amazing to see.

^I guess. Still not the same without Eazy-E. Not as bad as Alice In Chains without Layne...but close.

Both Dr. Dre and Eminem (who was rumored to be performing all of Eazy-E's verses for the NWA tour) have said they're not doing it.

For the record, I think Eminem is one of the few rappers who could actually nail all of Eazy's verses, particularly the faster ones.

I went to the Up In Smoke Tour back in the day, and it was packed. Just incredible. An NWA Reunion Tour would make a shitload of money if they had Cube, Dre, Ren AND Eminem.

Damn so that rumor isn't true? I think Slim can do it justice and was really hoping it would come about as I really want to see Dre in concert.

Dre was supposed to announce details of the album on his Beats 1 radio show today. Haven't heard anything yet.

Compton: The Soundtrack comes out on Aug. 7. Dre also talks about why he never released Detox.

Thanks for the link

Dre also revealed why he never released his long-delayed Detox: "It just wasn't good." "This is something you're not gonna hear many artists say. The reason Detox didn't come out was because I didn't like it. It wasn't good," Dre admitted. "I'm gonna keep it all the way one-thousand with you, seriously. I worked my ass off on it, I don't think I did a good enough job, and I couldn't do that to my fans and I couldn't do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn't feeling it."
Although its refreshingly honest to see an artist admit when their material just isnt as good as it used to be. I would still like to hear it.

I can see why. The album had soooooo much hype and had years of talk about it. Anything he could have done, it wouldn't be good enough. I am interested to know how it would sound, but I can understand why. Way too much pressure out there for that CD.

I'd like to hear it as well, but in an earlier article it sounded like he gave away the best beats to other artists (ie 50 Cent for his only huge album).

Anyway, this Compton soundtrack is basically Detox for me. It's going to be really good with Dre producing the whole thing. I cannot wait until Friday.

Re: Dr. Dre to finally release "new" album (Straight Outta Compton OST)

Tracklist:

1) Intro
2) Talk About It (feat. King Mez & Justus)
3) Genocide (feat. Kendrick Lamar, Marsha Ambrosius & Candice Pillay)
4) It’s All On Me (feat. Justus & BJ the Chicago Kid)
5) All In a Day’s Work (feat. Anderson Paak & Marsha Ambrosius)
6) Darkside/Gone (feat. King Mez, Marsha Ambrosius & Kendrick Lamar)
7) Loose Cannons (feat. Xzibit & COLD 187um)
8) Issues (feat. Ice Cube & Anderson Paak)
9) Deep Water (feat. Kendrick Lamar & Justus)
10) Jon Connor – One Shot One Kill (feat. Snoop Dogg)
11) The Game – Just Another Day (feat. Asia Bryant)
12) For the Love of Money (feat. Jill Scott & Jon Connor)
13) Satisfaction (feat. Snoop Dogg, Marsha Ambrosius & King Mez)
14) Animals (feat. Anderson Paak)
15) Medicine Man (feat. Eminem, Candice Pillay & Anderson Paak)
16) Talking To My Diary

Kendrick Lamar is only on 3 tracks and Eminem just on the one. Unless it's a hidden track, there is no NWA reunion song. Looks like Dre (as he likes to do) has a lot of unknown artists on this thing as well.

Kind of shocked Eminem only has 1 song on this CD.

I'm surprised, too, but am kind of happy about that. Eminem's voice has started to grate on my nerves over the past few years, so I'm not going to miss him too much.

So you can only get this on Friday from Itunes and Apple music. I'm curious whether there will be a physical release at some point. I rarely buy them, but would probably purchase a CD for this one.

The line-up of rappers doesn't look that great to me. People have been speculating for years that Dre has become like Jennifer Warnes and has developed impossibly high standards for his own work, refusing to release anything that is less than his standard of being a classic.

The production will be awesome though. Dre sounded genuinely excited about it on the radio yesterday. He said he thought the album was "bananas" and thought people would really dig it.

I was listening to 2001 last week when I was mowing the lawn and lamenting the fact that we would probably never have another new Dre album. Can't wait...

That was a classic. I was kind of hoping Slim Shady will be more on this new CD as that is the Slim I missed.

My new car doesn't have a CD player, so I don't really need a CD, but a digital release somewhere other than iTunes would be great. Nothing is worth diving into that mess again.

I would assume it will get released to other digital outlets and on CD not too long after Aug. 7. They just want people to get Itunes first.

As someone who has never had Itunes, why is it such a mess? Can music from them be played on winamp and other media players?
