Things that work in the movies so often they are thought of as fact, but aren't?
What are things that work in the movies so often that they are practically accepted as fact by a lot of people, but in real life actually don't work that often or simply aren't true at all?
For example, how CPR almost always saves someone's life in the movies, but isn't nearly as successful in real life.

CSI type plots where they blow up an image 10x and the image somehow has perfect clarity.
How easy it is for hackers in movies to hack things. They seem to be able to hack into FBI databases and such with extreme ease.
Computers in general. Most computers in movies just tend to show a bunch of gibberish on the screen. The user types a few keys and magic happens.

How gunshots don't hurt that much.
Cars being able to take a good hit on the underside without being fucked up.

If you hit some one with a wrench you won't knock them out for just long enough to get away.

Punches in real life don't make nearly as much noise on impact as they do in the movies.
Sound in space too. Although I'd love it if space were as noisy as Star Wars and Star Trek portray it.

In TV and movies, someone else's password can always be guessed in at most 3 attempts because they're always made up of some personal bit of information pertaining to the person. No one ever seems to use random words or characters in their passwords. Even Mr. Robot seems to follow this logic.

In addition to the silly silencer sounds in movies, there's the fact that a single gunshot still averages around 130 dB when a gun is equiped with a supressor.
Another one that bugs me is people always cocking a shotgun as a threat. Cocking only makes sense if you already fired. Otherwise, you are simply wasting ammo.

No one on TV or in the movies uses a cross cut shredder, I get that it is easier to show a scene where a document is rebuilt from strip shreds, but c'mon...I have to believe that the majority of individuals and businesses use a cross cut shredder nowadays (which would make it hideously hard to put together a bunch of shredded documents).
Or am I wrong, and there are more strip shredders in use than I would like to believe?

In Better Call Saul when they reconstructed shredded docs someone said "at least it wasn't cross cut."

I love people outrunning explosions and ducking behind things. Fire does not move in a straight line, you see, and assuming it does, that doesn't make it any less hot.
There're any number of variations on this cliche.
"Are you a virgin?"
"Did you kill him?"
"Do you know what I'm talking about?"
"Did you steal it?"
"Were you there?"
You actually think people will answer you honestly?!

Someone hears a strange noise in a dark house. The person ALWAYS says, "Hello, is anyone there?"
Yeah, I'm sure if someone/something is in your house that it will answer you...

When some big event has happened and one character says "turn on your TV." Other character turns on the TV and it is always already on a channel that is reporting on the event of interest. And they always seem to catch the news report at the very beginning of the story, never in the middle or at the end.

When running from a villain, as soon as you lose track of him and stop to look around, he's always right behind you, facing the way you were originally running.

Also, the villain never runs. The villain always walks. Yet the villain still manages to catch the character who is running.

How a building explosion, following a fight of two super-powered beings, only manages to kill "dozens" of people.
